Class Objective- Getting coordination between your left and right hand .

Title : Left Hand Exercises.


Objective : Using your left hand more efficiently.

Concept A : Practising alternate picking .


I. Play the following exercise with alternate picking
II. Press the frets firmly using your fingertips.
III. Play the given exercises without looking at your right hand .

Concept B : What is ‘Metronome’?

I. A device used by musicians that marks time at a selected rate by


giving a regular tick.
II. In simple language it is called rhythm or beats .
III. We have to play all the exercises , songs and solos etc. on the beat .
IV. If we play any solo without rhythm we call it meterless.
V. It follows a particular time signature.
VI. You can tap your feet in a rhythm and practise the exercises or
download a mobile app.

Concept C : What is ‘tempo’?


I. The speed of a metronome is called tempo.
II. It can be slow , medium or fast.
III. Different songs have different tempo .
IV. We can start practising all the exercises with a slow tempo and
gradually increase the speed in order to play faster.

Concept D : What is ‘Bpm’?

V. The unit used to measure the speed of a metronome is Bpm.


VI. Full form of Bpm is ‘beats per minute’.
VII. So the tempo can be set at a particular speed by varying the
bpm.
VIII. Typically we start practising any exercise or a song at a very low
tempo i.e 60 or 70 bpm and then increase it according to your
grip.
