TỪ NỐI MỆNH ĐỀ, TỪ NỐI CÂU

Có ba loại từ nối chính:

- Từ nối phụ thuộc (subordinators) như while, because…… được dung trong câu phức (complex sentences)

- Từ nối mệnh đề (coordinators) như and, but, or, so…..

- Từ nối câu (connectors) như however, therefore, besides…… được dung để nối ý hai câu với nhau.

1. Từ nối phụ thuộc

A. Từ nối phụ thuộc trong mệnh đề quan hệ:

Đại từ quan hệ (relative pronouns):

who; whom; whose + noun; that; which

Trạng từ quan hệ:

when (= on/at … which)

where (= at/in … which)

why (= for which)

B. Từ nối phụ thuộc trong câu điều kiện:

If ; Even if ; Only if ; Unless (= if… not) ; As long as; so long as; Provided / providing (that) ; On condition
(that) ; Suppose/ supposing (that) ; Imagine (if)

C. Từ nối phụ thuộc trong mệnh đề danh từ:

that; who ; whoever ; what ; whatever ; where ; wherever ; when ; whenever ;

how much/many/often…

whether (or not)/ if

D. Từ nối phụ thuộc mệnh đề trạng ngữ:

+ Thời gian: When; while; after; until/till; as soon as; before; since; as

+ Nơi chốn: Where; wherever; everywhere

+ Cách thức: As

+ Lí do: Because / as / since

+ kết quả: so + adj./adv/ + that

such +a(n) + noun + that

+ Mục đích: so that / in order that

+ Nhượng bộ: Although/ even though/ though
