1. In reference to RM No. 264, S. 2O24, titled “2O24 Regional Festival ofTalents (RFOT)”,

this o綿ce announces the conduct of the ``Division STEMazing - STEM Amazing

Competition)タタOn Apri1 1 1 , 2O24 to be hosted by Minglan皿a Central School, Minglanilla

l District. This is in line with the theme, “Galiγlg, 7b筋no, Clt Husag γ凹mga Bataγtg

MakabarlSa Sa D最)a r喝Mafatag rla Ad加太a”. The conduct of血is division level activity

wi11 adopt a contextualized guidelines but still aligned to the National STEMazing

Contest. (Attached is the contextualized guidelines)

2. The showcase enables leamers to:

2・ 1 apply science, teChnoIogy’engineering, and mathematics thinking skills to

soIve problems that have local, national and global impacts;

2.2 become problem soIvers by addressing social, SCientific and environmental

issues through the application of 2 1st century skills; and

2・3 present the oral and written proposed solutions to a given scenario.

3. The participants of this activity are the 3 1eamer participants and l

coach/ municipality wimer, Municipal Lead Secondary Science Coordinators, Technical

Working Group (TWG) and Education Program Supervisors in Science and Math.

4. Each participating team is required to bring laptop, Wi最, eXtenSion wire and printer.

5. To ensure the safety, health and weu-being of a11 participants, Strict observance of

minimum health protocoIs sha11 be implemented・

6. Teachers reporting on Apri1 1O, 2024 (holiday) for the preparation of the said activity

shall be granted one day service credit while Compensatory time - O縞(CTO) for the non-

teaching under the guidelines specified in DepEd Order No. 53, S. 2003 (Updated
Guidelines on the Grant of Vacation Service Credits for Teachers), Per CSC - DBM Joint

Circular No. 2 series 2OO4 (Non - Monetory Remuneration for Overtime Service s)

whichever is appropriate and applicable.

7. Attached below is the List of Members of the Technical Working Group who will serve

as proctors and Assessors of the competition.

8. Expenses relative to the conduct of this activity in the division level such as

honorarium for the Resource Persons/Judges shall be charged against the MTAP Funds

while the food, materials and LCD PrQjectors wi11 be charged to the Division GAD Funds.

Meals, traVeling, and other incidental expenses of the participants are chargeable to

SchooI MOOE / Local Funds or any available funds, Subject to血e usual accounting

and auditing rules and regulations・

I, Event Rules and Mechanics

General Guidelines

l. The showcase shall consist of proposal writing and One-Minute

Presentation. The teams sha11 develop and present their proposal to

the panel ofjudges of their solution about a real-WOrld

problem/scenario of local or global importance. The situation

containing the problem shall be given on-Site during the showcase・

2・ The participants are given 3 hours to conceptualize and prepare their

written description of the proposed solution for the oral presentation・

All entries submitted shall not bear any markings that identify their

regions・ The participants may use the intemet and other printed

resources in developing their written solution, however, the teams are

not a11owed to confer with their coaches while the activity is on -

going・ Any form of communication between the participants and other

parties (COaCh, ParentS, Classmates, teaChers, etC.) shall warrant

automatic disqualification.

4. The teams sha11 encode their proposals in word processing software,

double-SPaCed using Bookman Old style font size twelve set in A4 size

paper・ Margins shall be l inch on all sides of the paper. Within the 3

hours, the teams shall submit their outputs (electronic copy) to the

fa-Cilitators.

5. The proposals shall be subjected to a plagiarism check・ Any proposals

which exceed 15% similarity index (uncited) shall be deducted 2

points from the total score for every percent in excess・ However’Cited

references sha11 be excluded from the 15% tolerance.


6. The submitted proposals shall be evaluated by the assessors before

the oral presentation・

7. A timer board shall be shown to the public as we11 as to the

Participants・

8. A buzzer shall signal that the time for presentation is up, the

participants shall immediately stop presenting・ At the end of one

minute, the microphone shall be tumed o∬ and the participants will

be advised to stop.

9・ After the presentation, the assessors will ask questions for

clarifications.
