1 SCOPE OF WORK

The Scope of this method statement covers Installation of Installation of Exhaust Fans for the
Damman Logistic Center, NUPCO Project. This procedure also defines the method that will be used, to
ensure that the installation is carried out correctly and workmanship conforms to the Technical
Specification division 23 Sections, approved shop drawings, Local & International codes of practices, as
per the manufacturer’s manual instructions and the recommended safety and health procedures.

2 PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to lay down the systematic procedure for the different
activities required for Installation of Exhaust Fans. This Method statement covers all activities related to
the on-site Installation of Exhaust Fans.

3 SAFTEY

Prior to commencement of work, Project safety Engineer will co-ordinate with construction personnel
and work force to ensure safe working environment. Toolbox talk shall be conducted and all the
hazards to be identified before starting the work. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be worn all
the times by task force during execution at site. Clear the obstructions from the surrounding area to
avoid Near Misses and Accidents. Post safety signs while the work is going on and restrict the entry for
others in vicinity. Communicate the control measures in the Risk Assessment to the task force and
ensure this on site.

4 RESPONSIBILITY

4.1 Project Manager:

To be the focal point for interfaces and other communications with the Client and Consultant as
required. He shall verify that adequate quality measures are being undertaken. Implement the Quality
system to the satisfaction of project requirements.

4.2 Construction Manager

Shall be responsible for implementing this Work Method Statement and coordinating with all
personnel about these activities and organizing the necessary resources and ensure all works conform
to project quality requirements. Coordinate with all personnel and ensure all functions are performed
daily and recorded to avoid delay. He should also ensure that the proper tools and tackles are available
for the timely completion of the job in a good quality manner

4.3 Discipline Engineer

Shall be responsible for carrying out all the activities and control the workmanship in the construction
area. He is responsible for checking and review of all kinds of materials, the IFC drawings & works that
are carried out as per the Project Specification requirements, organize the third-party testing when
required, coordination with the QA/QC ENGINEER in day to day works, obtaining the clearance
whenever required and ensure the site HSE regulations are followed. Directing the construction team
to ensure the forecasted, planned test and inspection activities as detailed in the program are carried
out, organize all necessary resources are available for execution of works to meet schedules.

4.4 Safety Engineer/Officer

Ensure the work permit obtained from relevant authorities prior to commencement of work, ensure
task force is following the safety rules and regulations, and wearing Personal Protective Equipment
while working. Do the needful to minimize the risk at site. Make sure the first aid facility is available at
site and ensure the necessary steps to be taken in an emergency event by the site representatives and
the task force.

4.5 QA/QC Engineer

Shall ensure all inspections are conducted as per the contract specifications, approved materials, shop
drawings, method statement and ITPs. To ensure proper tools & tackles and manpower are used at all
stages of work. To ensure all current issues of procedures, Approved drawings and standards are
available at the point of use. He should also ensure the works complies with the contract requirements
& manufacturer’s installation instructions. He shall be responsible for the total quality control for the
installation works and liaise with the Company for inspection of the completed works.

4.6 Project Engineer

Shall review the Method Statement before starting the work, explain the same to the subordinates and
prepare program for the daily job. Aware of all code of practices, Standards & Specifications and HSE
plan and to motivate the workforce to perform a time bound and quality job. He should also be aware
of the test procedure of Installation of Exhaust Fans . Project engineer shall originate for the completed
works and accompany with QA/QC Engineer during site inspection.

4.7 Mechanical Supervisor

Ensure all work permits (if necessary), safety equipment’s; proper tools & tackles are ready at the
point of use. Aware of all procedures, work method / instructions, quality requirement for the timely
completion of the job and explains to the task force for execution the job. He should also be aware of
the site test procedure of Underground Storm/Drainage & Vent System. Execute all activities as per the
contract requirements, applicable code of practice, Manufacturer’s installation instructions and

monitor the job as per the schedule. Aware of the site test procedure of pipes, carry out the tests and
make all the test reports for records & verification.

4.8 Material Controller

Plan and make requisition in advance to get the materials for the scheduled execution program as per
the availability of materials and avoid time delay for some special category items. Confirm the received
materials are as per the specification, approved Materials Approval Request. Ensure the stock of
materials is sufficient to achieve the scheduled execution program. Check with Project Engineer and
plan for the materials readiness at site for the forthcoming scheduled/planned works as well as the site
condition. Keep the material related records updated and attend the audits

4.9 Handling and Storage of Materials

 Before unloading, check the material as per the MR & purchase order.
 Storekeeper/Material controller shall fully be aware of method of storing and importance
of the security of the materials.
 All the task force shall be instructed / informed for the above said activities.
 After unloading, recheck the quantity/quality of the items with the delivery order &
purchase order of the materials jointly with QA/QC Engineer.
 Make sure the materials are in good condition and as per the MR.
 Make the necessary arrangement with QA/QC Engineer for Company’s Inspection and Storage
material under cover and as per manufacturer recommendation
 After the material inspection and approval, the material shall be issued for execution /
installation.

5 PROCEDURE

The site supervisor shall explain the method of execution to the work force and distribute all necessary
approved construction drawings for the Installation of Exhaust Fans .. He will also make sure before
commencing the installation, that the appropriate tools and equipment’s are available at the point of
use. He will also explain to the task force all the hazards related to the Installation and testing works of
Exhaust Fans .and ensure that they all appreciate and adhere to all precautions listed in the Risk
Assessment.

5.1 Pre-Installation

Prior to the commencement of installation of the of Exhaust Fans., area and any anchor points will be
inspected to confirm that they are in a suitable condition for the installation works to commence.

All materials and documentation relevant to the Installation and testing works of Exhaust Fans. will be
checked by the Company representatives prior to the commencement of works. This will be carried out
to ensure that these are of the correct type as specified in the latest revision of material submittal.

 All the required safety precautions will be carried out as per the Risk Assessment.
 Make sure all materials and approved shop drawing will be available at the point of use.
 All builder works included wall opening done shall be installed as per approved shop drawings
& specification.
 Check the area around the wall opening and ensure access to the fans
 Mark the fans fixing holes position on the wooden frame of wall open

5.2 Method of Installation of Exhaust Fans.

 Shift the fans to the place of installation in a safe manner using hand trolley, fork lift as
applicable, sufficient manpower will be engaged as required for safe shifting and installation
 Ensure that the correct fans is shifted to the place of installation
 Ensure air inlet and outlet connections orientation is as per approved drawing
 The fans will be properly leveled and parallel to room walls/ other installation
 Fans shall be inspected again for any damages during hoisting / shifting and installation
 Clean the interior of the fans
 Follow the manufacturer’s instruction while installing the fans
 Installation of vibration isolators

5.3 Electrical Connections


 Electrical power connections shall be done as per approved drawings
 Cables shall be installed and terminated as per approved MOS

6 TESTING

 Material Inspections.
 Installation of Fans
 Functional Testing of Exhaust Fans
 All test equipment will be had valid calibration certificate
 Check ITP & related checklists.

7 EQUIPMENT

8 Quality Assurance

 The quality assurances encompass of following;


 ITP should be followed and coordinate with site engineer activities.
 Execution of work shall be done as per latest “ISSUE FOR Construction” drawings and
specifications.
 Request for Inspection (RFI) will be raised and approval from client.
 Conduct training to engineers and workers for the awareness of project related quality and
process on each activity.
 Daily pep talk for supervisors.

9 Health and Safety

 Before start activities tool box talk shall be conduct by concern supervisor.
 Activity to be adequately supervised by competent staff (both Construction & HSE)
 All Personnel/Workforce involved in the activity to be inducted, and received the required
training/competencies BEFORE commencing the activity
 Engineer/Supervisor/Foremen In‐Charge to prepare work permit (including Permits Lifting
permit / Hot work permit / Work at Height as applicable) before commencing the activity (form
and discussion to be in the language understood by the workforce).
 Updated Activity Responsible Personal emergency contact number will be posted and
submitting to HSE dept.
 All Personnel/Workforce involved in the activity to fully comply with PPE requirement
(Personal Protective Equipment)
 Use adequate and visible HSE signage, posters and board to promote awareness
 Engineer/Supervisor/Foreman/Charge‐Hand to be familiarized with Emergency
 Response Plan & Contact Numbers. Emergency contact numbers to be posted on site.
