1.0 SCOPE
This specification defines the minimum requirements for life safety appliances
such as Fire Blanket, Fireman’s Outfit & Breathing Apparatus for offshore
platforms.

2.0 CODES AND STANDARDS


The following codes and standards (latest edition) are referenced to and made a
part of this specification:

a. USCG-CG-320 : "Rules and Regulations for Artificial Islands and


Fixed Structures on the Outer Continental
Shelf".

b. BSI-486 : British Statutory Instruments. No. 486 "The


Offshore Installation (Life Saving Appliances)
Regulation".

c. International Convention on Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) the 1974


convention, the 1978 protocol and its amendments till date.

3.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS


3.1 Fire Blanket
Easy to use fire blanket shall be furnished as follows
Material : 100% reprocessed wool, also processed with a fireproofing
chemical

Size : 84” x 62”

Colour : Dark (Easily visible colour)

Casing : Blankets to be kept in wall case made of brilliant signal


Yellow Vinyl-coated nylon fabric. No snaps and zippers
permitted.

3.2 Fire Man’s Outfit


Complete set of fireman’s outfit along with self–contained Breathing apparatus
shall be furnished. Technical details shall be in accordance with SOLAS
Regulations.

4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS


4.1 Each item shall be marked in Block Letters with the legend as specified in data
sheet.
4.2 Quantity
Quantity shall be as per the attached data sheet

5.0 APPROVALS
Each item shall be as approved by Mercantile Marine Department of Govt. of
India or equivalent statutory authority like USCG, SOLAS etc.
Adequate Certificates shall be furnished in this respect.

6.0 SITE CONDITIONS


Equipment shall be designed for an offshore location with site conditions as
given in 6347-40-16-56-SP-03 "Specification for Site Conditions and Climate".

7.0 VENDOR DATA


Vendor shall furnish data for proposal, approval and dossier in accordance with
6347-40-16-44-SP-04, "Specification for Vendor Data Requirements".

8.0 INSPECTION AND TESTS


Company or its authorized representative(s) reserves(s) the right to witness the
tests.

9.0 WARRANTY
Vendor shall have final and total responsibility for the design, fabrication and
performance of all equipment supplied under this specification.

Vendor shall warrant that the equipment furnished by him is in accordance with
this specification and Specification for General Technical Requirements, ”6347-
40-16-44-SP-01”.
