BACKGROUND/BRIEF CONTEXT/PERSPECTIVE OF THE ACTIVITY

In examining the level of students’ procrastination within our university, we’ve

noticed a concerning trend among many of our peers. Despite having access to ample
resources and support systems, a significant portion of students consistently delay
tasks and assignments until the last minute, often leading to increased stress, lower
academic performance, and compromised well-being. This observation is not unique to
our institution but is rather reflective of a broader societal issue where procrastination
has become increasingly prevalent, particularly among younger demographics.
As we delve deeper into understanding the root causes of this procrastination epidemic,
it becomes apparent that multiple factors contribute to the problem. One key aspect is
the modern culture of instant gratification and distraction, fueled by the omnipresence of
smartphones, social media, and entertainment platforms. The fear of failure and
perfectionism also play significant roles, as students may procrastinate out of anxiety
about not meeting high expectations or producing subpar work. Additionally, poor time
management skills and a lack of intrinsic motivation can further exacerbate the issue,
making it difficult for students to prioritize tasks effectively.

Personally, witnessing the consequences of procrastination within our academic

community evokes a mix of concern and empathy. It’s disheartening to see talented
individuals struggle unnecessarily due to avoidable habits, yet I also understand the
complex psychological factors at play. Addressing this issue requires a multifaceted
approach that combines education on time management techniques, fostering a
supportive academic environment that encourages proactive behavior, and promoting
self-awareness and mindfulness to combat underlying emotional barriers.

In response to this pressing issue, our organization is committed to implementing

targeted interventions aimed at reducing student procrastination and promoting a
culture of productivity and accountability. This may involve organizing workshops and
seminars on effective time management strategies, providing resources for stress
management and mental health support, and fostering a collaborative learning
environment where students feel empowered to seek help and support from their peers
and mentors. By taking proactive steps to address procrastination, we aim to empower
students to reach their full potential and thrive academically and personally.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The project entitled “Just N Time” aims to;

•To investigate the relationship between procrastination and academic performance,

including its impact on grades, completion rates, and overall achievement.

•To analyze the role of technology and social media in exacerbating or mitigating
procrastination behaviors among students.

•To assess the prevalence and frequency of procrastination behaviors among students
across different academic levels and disciplines.
