C. Presenting Examples/ instances of the new Today we are going to talk about how to provide evidence to support
lesson a fact.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new A fact is true and correct no matter what. Therefore, a statement
skills #1 can be supported by information or evidences that possibly makes it a
fact.
Evidence consists of facts, groups of facts such as sequences of
events, material or visible traces of events having taken place. When
writing, evidence supports the validity of facts. Keep in mind that
evidence, just like facts, should be provable. There are a number of
ways you can support a fact by using information/evidence from the
work of (significant) writers and researchers. The following are three of
the most common techniques:
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new 1. Quotations (e.g. direct quotes, paraphrases, summaries)
skills #2 2. Examples (e.g. illustrations of your points)
3. Statistics (e.g. facts, figures, diagrams)
F. Developing Mastery Let’s try a few items as practice exercise. Write Yes if the evidences
support the Fact, write No if the evidences do NOT support the fact.
1. Fact: The African bush elephant is the largest living land animal.

The shoulder height of a male elephant or a bull can reach up to
3 meter. An adult male elephant can weigh up to 6,000 kg while an

size, height and weight of an elephant.

over years, to the point where it has surpassed Manila to become the
country's most populated city.
The answer is Yes. The first sentence states that Quezon City is
most populated city in the Philippines and it is supported by evidences
