Observed in the given examples above, in naming alkanes we notice

that we always have a number in front of our substituent followed
by the longest carbon chain. That number tells us which carbon that
specific substituent is located at.

Teacher will proceed to proper discussion to explain the

steps on how to draw structural formula of alkane when
given the name.

Basic steps to draw Alkane

Step 1: Draw the longest carbon chain.
Step 2: Number the carbon chain
Step 3: Place the substituent at their designated number.

Teacher will use the following examples to draw.

Afterwarads, teacher will ask a question:

 Why is it important to learn how to draw structural form
of alkane?
- Mastering the ability to draw the structural form of alkanes is a
fundamental skill that opens doors to deeper understanding,
effective communication, and innovation in the field of chemistry.
- Understanding Molecular Structure: Drawing the structural
form of alkanes helps in visualizing and understanding the
arrangement of atoms within the molecule.
- Communication in Chemistry: Being able to draw them
accurately allows scientists to communicate ideas, hypotheses,
and experimental results effectively.
- Innovation: In fields such as organic chemistry and drug
discovery, understanding molecular structure is essential for
designing new compounds with desired properties.
