We’re doing great, ma’am!

How are you today?
Yes, ma’am!
That’s good to know!

We will have another interesting topic today. It will be so

much fun!

Now, for the attendance. Who among you are absent today?
Okay very good! You are all present.
None, ma’am.
Do we have an assignment?

How many chromosomes does human have? There are 23 pairs of chromosomes, ma’am or 46
chromosomes.
Well said! I’m grateful that all of you really
understand our previous topic.

3. Motivation
Before we will begin our lesson, let us have an activity
called Puzzle-Solving. Locate ten (10) words that are
associated to the topic. They can be read horizontally,
vertically, or diagonally. Anyone who will participate will
receive a reward but only if your answers are correct!

I will be giving you the words you need to locate in the

puzzle. Just raise your hand if you already know where the
words are located.

Yes, ma’am.
You did a great job, class!

4.2 Activity.
Now we're going to do a hands-on activity called the 'Cell
Cycle Sorting Activity.' I'll divide you into a group of girls
and boys and each group will get materials to create a
poster board. On the poster board, you'll have two sections:
one for 'Interphase' and one for 'Cell Division.' Your task is
to sort a set of sticky notes containing terms related to the
cell cycle into these sections.
Once you've been assigned a number, find the other
students with the same number as you, and that will be
your group for this activity. Make sure you gather together
with your group members and find a space where you can
work comfortably.
Yes, ma’am.
Does everyone understand?
(The teacher distributes the activity sheets.)
Now that we've divided into our groups, it's time to begin
the 'Cell Cycle Sorting Activity.'
You have three minutes to start organizing the terms and
discussing with your group members where each term
belongs. Remember to collaborate and share your ideas
with one another.
Ready? Begin! Yes, ma’am.
Alright, everyone, time's up!
We'll be discussing the topic in more detail after this
activity, and we'll review your answers then to see if they
were correct.

4.3 Analysis
Based on the activities we've done earlier, can anyone It is about cycle, ma’am.
guess what our topic for today might be?
Absolutely! Because our focus for today's lesson indeed
revolves around the intricate processes of the cell cycle.
What do you think is the function of the cell cycle? Yes, Possible answer: The function of the cell cycle is to ensure
Mike? that cells grow, replicate their DNA, and divide to produce
new cells for growth, repair, and reproduction.

The cell cycle indeed plays a crucial role in helping cells

grow and reproduce. Well done!
To deepen our comprehension of the subject, let's move
forward to our topic.

4.4 Abstraction
A cell cycle is a series of events that takes place in a cell as
Let us define first what a cell cycle is. Ms. ______ please it grows and divides.
read what cell cycle is.

In other words, it is a series of growth and development

steps a cell undergoes between its “birth” which is the
formation by the division of a mother cell-and reproduction
to make two new daughter cells.

All living things contain a self-replicating genetic material

that directs the activities and functions of the cells.
Deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA is the genetic material
located inside a chromosome in the nucleus of the cell.

In the nucleus of each cell, the DNA molecule is packaged

into thread-like structures called chromosomes. Each
Chromosome is made up of DNA tightly coiled many times
around proteins called histones that support its structure.

Do you understand, class? Yes, ma’am.

As what I have said a while ago, cell cycle is divided into Possible answer: the two general periods or stages of a cell
two periods or stages: And what are those? Anyone? cycle are interphase and the cell division or M phase.

Very good! The two general period or stages of a cell cycle Interphase – a stage where cell grows in size, carries on
are interphase and M phase which is the period of cell metabolism and duplicates chromosomes in preparation for
division. Let us discuss first the Interphase. Ms. the period of cell division.
_____ please read.

As what I have said a while ago, interphase is the first

period of cell cycle where the long strands of DNA also
known as chromatin is being found. In this stage,
chromatins are being shorten and coiled. During this stage,
the cell is constantly synthesizing RNA, producing protein
and growing in size. By studying molecular events in cells,
we determined that interphase can be divided into 3 sub
stages which are the G1 stage, S stage and G2 stage.

G1 stage- is characterized by protein and ribonucleic acid

clear class? Then let’s proceed to the next stage which is
the S stage. Ms. ______ please
read S stage.

During S stage, the cell replicates its DNA. The “S” stands
for synthesis – referring to the synthesis of new
chromosomes from raw materials. Production of other
substances and organelles is slowed greatly during this time
as the cell focuses on replicating its entire genome. When
the S stage is completed, the cell will have two complete
sets of its generic material. This is crucial for cell division,
as it ensures the both daughter cells can receive a copy of
the “blueprint” they
need to survive and reproduce. Yes, ma’am.
G2 stage – is characterized by lots of protein production and

________ please read.

During the second gap stage, or g2 stage, the cell grows

more, makes proteins and organelles, and begins to
reorganize its contents in preparation for mitosis. It is the

copies of their DNA are correct and intact to avoid errors Yes, ma’am.
during the M phase.

Am I clear class? M phase - a phase where cell division occurs to produce

daughter cells.
Then let’s proceed to the second period of cell cycle which
is the M phase or also called cell division stage. Anyone
who wants to read?

development of a living organism.

Did you understand our lesson, class?

4.5 Application
Today's activity, 'NAME ME!', will reinforce our
understanding of the cell cycle by labelling its parts.
Each pair will receive a printed diagram depicting the
stages of the cell cycle, including interphase and cell
division. Using a pen or marker, label each stage with its
corresponding parts. Collaborate with your partner to
discuss and verify your answers. You can choose the
answer inside the box.

G1 Phase Prophase
Metaphase S phase
Telophase G2 phase
Anaphase
Yes, ma’am.

You have 5 minutes to complete the labeling. Are we clear,

class?
You may now begin answering.
Are you done?
Time's up! Exchange your papers and let’s check.
Okay very good! Most of you got the correct answers.

4.6 Assessment
You will now be given a multiple-choice quiz to assess
your understanding of the cell cycle. Please choose the best
answer for each question and mark your choice on the
answer sheet provided. Ensure that your answers are clear
and legible. You have 3 minutes to complete the quiz.
