Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

Preliminary Activities
Teacher Pearl:
“Good morning, Teacher!”
Short Greeting, “Good morning, Grade 7!”

“Let us pray first..”

“Thank you, Teacher!”
“You may now sit.”

IV. Motivation
Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities
“Yes, Teacher.”
“Students, in your previous lesson in
Microsoft Word, you have been taught how
to create tables.”

“What did you remember?” “It is created by rows and columns, etc.”

“Very good.”

“So, our lesson for this day has a

connection to that.”

“But before we proceed we will have a short “Okay, Teacher.”

activity.”

V. Lesson Proper
Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

a. Activity

Teacher:

“Students, get your notebook or a piece of “Okay, Teacher.”

paper and a ball pen. Kindly write down your
favorite movie, anime series, or k-pop
group.”

“Afterward, list down important information (followed the instructions)

about it. For example, Fairy Tail Guild. I will
put the name of the characters, age,
position, power, and location.”

b. Analysis

Teacher:

“As you observe, the way you write down “Yes, Teacher. It is not organized.”
the information is a bit messy. Organizing it
will make it easy to understand.”

“In connection to this, MS. Excel

Spreadsheet will help us in entering, editing,
manipulating, and printing information in a
tabulated form.”

“This time I will be showing you how to

create tables using the MS Excel “Okay, Teacher.”
Spreadsheet. We will also discuss the basic
and important terminologies; screen
components for you to be able to learn,
familiarize, and understand their function.”

c. Abstraction

“Let us proceed to our lesson proper.”

“Students, kindly open Excel and make a

new workbook. Click the File Tab, and then (followed the instruction)
click New. By default, a Blank Workbook is
selected then click Create.”

“It is important to start with the terminologies

and layout terms that you are going to need (listening..)
to know in the spreadsheet itself.”

“The first thing we need to do is to learn

about the layout in Excel. There are certain
terms that you are going to need to know.”

“Across the top, we have a Tabs; home tab,

insert tab, page layout, and more. As you
can see, each of these tabs is important and
when you click on a particular tab it opens
up a Ribbon.”

“This is the ribbon of the home tab.”

“Okay, Teacher.”

“Now, the ribbon is divided into Groups and

compose of clipboard, font, alignment,
numbers, styles, cells, and editing.”
“Students, kindly tell me if I am talking fast.”
“Yes, Teacher.”

“Name box – Contains the cell address of

the cell/active cell. You can click the arrow
to the right of the name box to show a drop-
down list that displays any name you have
defined for the current workbook. In our
example, it shows “I2.”

“Select all button – used for selecting the

entire worksheet.”

“This is the Spreadsheet.”

“Spreadsheets are made up of columns “Okay, Teacher.”
and rows.”

“Columns: A Column, B Column, C

Column, and so on.”
“Rows: Row 1, Row 2, Row 3, and so on.”

“The intersection of a column and a row is

what produces a Cell. Every cell has a
name this particular cell is I2.”
“Formula Bar - shows the contents of the “Okay, Teacher.”
active cell.

“Column headings – horizontal bars on top (listening..)

of the worksheet. They are labeled with
letters for A to XFD.”

“Row headings – vertical bars at the left

side of the worksheet. They are labeled with
numbers from 1 to 1,048,576.”

“Can you follow?” “Yes, Ma’am.”

“Tab Scrolling buttons - used to scroll

through the sheet tabs in your workbook,
allowing you to view other worksheets in the
workbook.”
“Sheet tabs – contain the names of the “Okay, Ma’am.”
available worksheets in the current
workbook. These tabs enable you to switch
to a specific sheet in the workbook. Right-
click any sheet tab to show a shortcut menu
to insert, delete, rename, move, or copy
worksheets.”

“Tab Split box - you can drag this to the left (listening…)
and right in order to adjust the area
allocated for displaying the sheet tabs. To
reset the tab display, simply double-click the
tab split box.”

“Can you follow?” “Yes, Teacher.”
