OFFICIAL GUIDELINES- FESTIVAL QUEEN COMPETITION

1. ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES

a. Festival Queen Candidates

- She must be female, has never given birth and of good moral character
- She must be a Filipino citizen between the ages of 16-25 years old
- She must have a pleasing personality and should possess exceptional
dancing skills.

- Failure to comply with the eligibility requirements will merit an

automatic disquali cation from the competition

b. To be submitted to the organizing committee:

- Duly accomplished Registration form

- Mayor’s Endorsement Letter
- Good Moral Certi cate

2. FESTIVAL QUEEN COSTUME

a. WHAT IS ALLOWED

- Christian-based, pintados/pre-Spanish themed, Neo-ethnic (a fusion of

modern and traditional) and modern contemporary costume
concepts are allowed.

 - The following foreign in uences (those that in uenced culture in
various points in Philippine history) are allowed: Hindu-Malay,
Chinese and Western

- Elaborate headdress, back dress and other accessories that will

di erentiate her from her back-up dancers is allowed.

- Any type of comfortable footwear as long as it matches the design and

color of the costume is allowed.

- Festival Queen costumes must have a maximum total weight of ve (5)

kilos. A one (1) point deduction from each of the judges’ score
sheets for every excess gram will be imposed.

b. WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED

- Vulgar and revealing costumes are strictly prohibited. These include

costumes that show too much skin (bellies, stomachs, legs, backs
and cleavages). Any candidate who violates this provision will
automatically be disquali ed from the competition.
- Muslim and Cordillera-based costumes are not allowed.

3. PRE-JUDGING

The candidate’s beauty of face and proportionality of gure will be judged

prior to the competition proper. This will allow the judges to have a closer
look at the candidates.

4. GROUP PERFORMANCE

The candidate must participate during the performance of her contingent.

This will constitute 60% of the total score of the candidate
