b. Appreciate the importance of using the time wisely; and
c. Convert time measures from minutes to seconds and vice versa.

II. Subject Matter

III. Procedure

Teacher's Activity Student's Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
Before we start our lesson let us pray first.
Who wants to lead the prayer?
(A student raised his/her hand)

Yes, ____( calling a student), please lead the

prayer. Angel of God, my guardian dear, to
whom God's love commits me
here, ever this day be at my side, to
light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen
2. Greetings
Good morning, class! Good morning, teacher Angiela!

Please, pick up the pieces of paper under

your chair and arrange your chairs as well,
class.
You may now sit down, class

3. Attendance
I’ll check the attendance, say present if your (The students say present if their
name was called.)
name is called.
Very Good! There is no absent today.

4. Review
This will be our first topic for the fourth
quarter.
We will just have some drills to measure your
knowledge in multiplication and division.
1. 60
1. 30 x 2 = ___ 2. 30
2. 60 / 2 =___ 3. 240
3. 60 x 4 =___ 4. 720
4. 1440 / 2 =___

B. Motivation

What are the things you do before going to

school?

Directions: Look at the given pictures. Pick

one and tell your classmates how long it takes
you to do this every morning.

Why is it important to be aware of time? Time helps us follow our daily

routines, like waking up, eating meals,
going to school, and going to bed.

Why do we have to use time wisely? When we use our time wisely, we can
finish our tasks and homework on
time.
Based on the activity, what do you think our About time teacher!
next lesson?

C. Lesson Proper
Discussions

For today’s lesson, we’ll visualize,

represent, and convert time measure from
minutes to seconds.

1 minute = 60 seconds

 How many seconds in 2 minutes?

To answer this, we will multiply the 2 minutes

to 60 seconds, in which 1 minute = 60
seconds.

2x 60 = 120 seconds

Another way to solve this. We can also use

addition.

1 minute = 60 seconds
+
1 minute = 60 seconds
2 minutes = 120 seconds

Therefore, there are 120 seconds in 2

minutes.

To convert minutes to seconds we will

multiply it by 60.

How many seconds in 5 minutes? 300 seconds

 How many minutes in 180 seconds?

This time, we will perform division.

180/60 = 3
Therefore, there are 3 minutes in 180
seconds.
How many minutes in 240 seconds? 4 minutes

D. Group Activity
This time, we will have a group activity. I will
divide the class into 3 groups.

Kindly read the standards for our group Standards for Group Activity
activity, first.  Read and follow the
instructions carefully.
 Cooperate with the group.
 Work quietly.
 Finish your work on time.

Directions: Read the statement carefully.

Convert the following time measure.

Group 1

 Nena spent 5 minutes in doing her

homework. How many seconds in 5
minutes?

5 (minutes) x 60(seconds)=___

Group 2
(The students perform the group
 Hero arrived at school in just 720 activity)
seconds. How many minutes in 720
seconds?

720(secs)/60(secs)=___

Group 3

 Teacher Aya said “I’ll just give you 10

minutes to finished your activity”. How
many seconds in 10 minutes.

10 (minutes) x 60(seconds)=___

Let’s Try!

Directions: Convert to the indicated unit.

1. 60 seconds
1. How many seconds in 1 minute? 2. 420 seconds
2. How many seconds in 7 minutes? 3. 13 minutes
3. How many minutes in 780 seconds?

Very Good!

F. Generalization

What lesson did we discuss today? Teacher!

Yes, (calling a name) Our lesson for today is all about

visualizing, representing, and
converting time measure from minutes
to seconds and vice versa.

Very Good!

Let’s see if you really understand the lesson.

420 seconds
How many seconds in 7 minutes?
To convert minutes to seconds, we
How did you convert minutes to seconds? will multiply it by 60, hence 1 minute is
equivalent to 60 seconds.

How about seconds to minutes? To convert seconds to minutes we will

perform division.

That’s right, and why we should use our time When we use our time wisely, we can
wisely? finish our tasks and homework on
time.

Very Good!
All your answers are correct, let’s give them a
good job clap.

IV. Evaluation

Directions: Convert the time measures from minutes to seconds and vice versa.
Choose the correct answers in the box.
