SIMPLE MACHINES

Simple machine is any of several devices with no moving parts that are used to
modify motion and force in order to perform work.

Below are six (6) types of simple machine, its example, characteristic and uses

1. INCLINED PLANE-A flat surface raised as an angle (slooping or slanting). Surface

looks like a ramp.

TOOL
-stairs, slide, and a wood ramp.

USES
-lift or raise heavy objects by moving up a slope.

2. WEDGE-Objects with two inclined planes positioned back-to-back that tapors to a

thin edge.

TOOL
-Nail, axes, pins, and knives

USES
-Cutting or splitting certain materials apart.

3. WHEEL AND AXLE-Made up of a circular frame that revolves on a shaft or rod.

TOOL
- Door knob, rolling pin, steering wheel.

USES
-Raising weight, carrying transport loads over land and travel a long distance.

4. PULLEY-A wheel carries a flexible rope, cord, cable, chains, or belt on its rim.

TOOL
-Flag pole, ropes on a sail boat, and a movable clothesline.

USES
-Lifting or raising and lowering a load easier.

5. SCREW-A long inclined around a shaft * A circular cylindrical thing with continuous
winding or spiral rib.

TOOL
-Jar lid, bolt, and the bottom end of a bulb.

USES
-fasten of hold fastened thing and used to hold lifted objects.
 6. LEVER-A long beam or bar that rests or turns or lifts or supports (fulcrum). The lever
has three parts: fulcrum, load, and effort.

TOOL
-Can opener, tweezers, and wheel barrow.

USES
-Lifting or pulling out objects easily.

Pursuant to RA 9184, otherwise known as the Government Procurement Reform Act under the
2016 revision specifically Annex “H” Appendix A, the BAC shall require from suppliers,
contractors and consultants documentary requirements for Alternative Methods of Procurement
(Please see attached sheet).

The BAC noticed that many of our suppliers have no Philgeps Registration Number. In view
hereof, I am informing you to be aware of those suppliers with lacking documentary
requirements listed on the attached sheet. Starting May 1, 2021 the BAC will no longer
recommend for payment obligations among suppliers without Philgeps Registration Number.
