CHAPTER I

Background of the Study

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems offer effective support for online

learning and teaching, including personalizing learning for students,

automating instructors’ routine tasks, and powering adaptive assessments. The

aim of this study is to analyse the influence of AI on 11 CSS Students of

Victorias National High School, investigate its impact on the teaching and

learning process, However, while the opportunities for AI are promising, the

impact of AI systems on the culture of, norms in, and expectations about

interactions between students and instructors are still elusive. In online

learning, learner–instructor interaction (inter alia, communication, support,

and presence) has a profound impact on students’ satisfaction and learning

outcomes.

Thus, identifying how students and instructors perceive the impact of AI

systems on their interaction is important to identify any gaps, challenges, or

barriers preventing AI systems from achieving their intended potential and

risking the safety of these interactions. They also emphasise the importance of

considering the ethical implications of AI.

To address this need for forward-looking decisions, we used Speed

Dating with storyboards to analyze the authentic voices of grade 11 CSS

students in VICTORIAS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL instructors on diverse use

cases of possible AI systems in online learning. Findings show that participants

envision adopting AI systems in online learning can enable personalized

learner–instructor interaction at scale but at the risk of violating social

boundaries. Although AI systems have been positively recognized for improving

the quantity and quality of communication, for providing just-in-time,

personalized support for large-scale settings, and for improving the feeling of

connection, there were concerns about responsibility, agency, and surveillance

issues. These findings have implications for the design of AI systems to ensure

explainability, human-in-the-loop, and careful data collection and

presentation.

Overall, contributions of this study include the design of AI system

storyboards which are technically feasible and positively support learner–

instructor interaction, capturing students’ and instructors’ concerns of AI

systems through Speed Dating, and suggesting practical implications for

maximizing the positive impact of AI systems while minimizing the negative

ones. This study demonstrate the crucial role of AI in the future of 11 CSS

Students of Victorias National High Schol.

Review of Related Literature

Research on artificial intelligence in the last two decades has greatly

improved performance of both manufacturing and service systems. Currently,

there is a dire need for an article that presents a holistic literature survey of

worldwide, theoretical frameworks and practical experiences in the field of

artificial intelligence. The aim of this study is to analyse the Importance of AI

on 11 CSS Students of Victorias National High School. This paper reports the

state-of-the-art on artificial intelligence in an integrated, concise, and elegantly

distilled manner to show the experiences in the field. In particular, this paper

provides a broad review of recent developments within the field of artificial

intelligence (AI) and its applications. The work is targeted at new entrants to

the artificial intelligence field. It also reminds the experienced researchers

about some of the issue they have known.

In the 21st century artificial intelligence (AI) has become an important

area of research in virtually all fields: engineering, science, education,

medicine, business, accounting, finance, marketing, economics, stock market

and law, among others (Halal (2003),Masnikosa (1998), Metaxiotis et al. (2003),

Raynor (2000), Stefanuk and Zhozhikashvili (2002), Tay and Ho (1992) and

Wongpinunwatana et al. (2000)).

The field of AI has grown enormously to the extent that tracking

proliferation of studies becomes a difficult task (Ambite and Knoblock (2001),

Balazinski et al. (2002), Cristani (1999) and Goyache (2003)). Apart from the

application of AI to the fields mentioned above, studies have been segregated

into many areas with each of these springing up as individual fields of

knowledge (Eiter et al. (2003), Finkelstein et al. (2003), Grunwald and Halpern

(2003),Guestrin et al. (2003), Lin (2003), Stone et al. (2003) and Wilkins et al.

(2003)).

the learning experience.

Additionally, it aims to investigate students' personal experiences with AI

in their learning process.

Significance of the Study

The study aims the Importance of artificial intelligence in education for

11 CSS Students of Victorias National High School.

With the advent of ChatGPT, Google Bard, Midjourney and Canva’s

magic features, artificial intelligence (AI) is quickly becoming an integral part of

our everyday lives, transforming industries and reshaping the way we work,

learn and communicate. This rapid technological advancement highlights the

importance of incorporating AI education into the curriculum not only to

ensure that all students are well-equipped for their academic futures but also

for workforce development. With that in mind, it is crucial to consider

underrepresented populations as these students are typically left out of the

newest technological advancements. AI Support for Teaching AI has the

potential to revolutionize the education sector by enhancing learning

experiences, supporting teachers and offering more personalized learning

opportunities for 11 CSS Students of Victorias National High School. We must

equip teachers with the knowledge and strategies they will need to use this new

technology to improve and streamline everyday processes as well as classroom

implementation. Some areas in which AI can transform the classroom include

personalized learning, ideation, adaptive learning, special needs education,

bilingual education, gamification and immersive learning. Personalized learning

involves AI-powered systems that analyze students’ learning styles, strengths

and weaknesses to create tailored lesson plans and suggest resources to serve

their individual needs. Adaptive learning platforms can adjust to each student’s

progress in real-time, identifying gaps in knowledge, providing immediate

feedback, and suggesting targeted interventions to help students master the

material. AI can also help teachers automate administrative tasks, enabling

them to focus more on instruction and student interaction.

Furthermore, AI-powered virtual tutors can provide round-the-clock

support to students, while customized learning solutions can empower

students with special needs to reach their full potential. Gamification and

immersive learning experiences can make education more engaging, fun and

memorable.AI-driven language translation tools can break down

communication barriers, enabling students and educators from diff erent

countries or with diff erent languages to collaborate on projects and learn from

one another. All means all. Teaching students about AI is essential for

developing digital literacy, critical thinking skills, and preparing students for

future academic and career success of 11 CSS Students of Victorias National

High School.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

Scope of artificial intelligence in different areas. In the field of

education.Artificial intelligence can automate basic activities in education, like

grading While AI may not ever be able to truly replace human grading, it’s
getting pretty close. It’s now possible for teachers to automate grading for

nearly all kinds of multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank testing and automated

grading of student writing may not be far behind. Today, essay-grading

software is still in its infancy and not quite up to par, yet it in college, grading

homework and tests for large lecture courses can be tedious work, even when

TAs split it between them. Even in lower grades, teachers often find that

grading takes up a significant amount of time, time that could be used to

interact with students, prepare for class, or work on professional development.

Educational software can be adapted to student needs .From

kindergarten to graduate school, one of the key ways artificial intelligence will

impact education is through the application of greater levels of individualized

learning. Some of this is already happening through growing numbers of

adaptive learning programs, games, and software. These systems respond to

the needs of the student, putting greater emphasis on certain topics, repeating

things that students haven’t mastered, and generally helping students to work

at their own pace, whatever that may be.This kind of custom tailored education

could be a machine-assisted solution to helping students at different levels

work together in one classroom, with teachers facilitating the learning and

offering help and support when needed. Adaptive learning has already had a

huge impact on education across the nation (especially through programs like

Khan Academy), and as AI advances in the coming decades adaptive programs

like these will likely only improve and expand.

It can point out places where courses need to improve Teachers may not

always be aware of gaps in their lectures and educational materials that can

leave students confused about certain concepts. Artificial intelligence offers a

way to solve that problem. Coursera, a massive open online course provider, is

already putting this into practice. When a large number of students are found
to submit the wrong answer to a homework assignment, the system alerts the

teacher and gives future students a customized message that offers hints to the

correct answer. This type of system helps to fill in the gaps in explanation that

can occur in courses, and helps to ensure that all students are building the

same conceptual foundation. Rather than waiting to hear back from the

professor, students get immediate feedback that helps them to understand a

concept and remember how to do it correctly the next time around.Students

could get additional support from AI tutors while there are obviously things

that human tutors can offer that machines can’t, at least not yet, the future

could see more students being tutored by tutors that only exist in zeros and

ones. Some tutoring programs based on artificial intelligence already exist and

can help students through basic mathematics, writing, and other

subjects. These programs can teach students fundamentals, but so far aren’t

ideal for helping students learn high-order thinking and creativity, something

that real-world teachers are still required to facilitate. Yet that shouldn’t rule

out the possibility of AI tutors being able to do these things in the future. With

the rapid pace of technological advancement that has marked the past few

decades, advanced tutoring systems may not be a pipe dream. It could change

the role of teachers. There will always be a role for teachers in education, but

what that role is and what it entails may change due to new technology in the

form of intelligent computing systems. As we’ve already discussed, AI can take

over tasks like grading, can help students improve learning, and may even be a

substitute for real-world tutoring. Yet AI could be adapted to many other

aspects of teaching as well. AI systems could be programmed to provide

expertise, serving as a place for students to ask questions and find information

or could even potentially take the place of teachers for very basic course

materials. In most cases, however, AI will shift the role of the teacher to that of

facilitator Teachers will supplement AI lessons, assist students who are

struggling, and provide human interaction and hands-on experiences for

students. In many ways, technology is already driving some of these changes in

the classroom, especially in schools that are online or embrace the flipped

classroom model.

Definition of Terms

Meaning of artificial intelligence Artificial intelligence is the combination of two

words artificial + intelligence. Where artificial means ‘not real’ or ‘natural’ and

by intelligence means ‘the ability to reason, to trigger new thoughts, to perceive

and learn’. Artificial intelligence can be defined that area of computer science

that mainly focus on the making on such kind of intelligent machines that

work and give reactions same like human beings. It is combination of many

activities which includes for designing the artificial in computers that are like-

recognizing the speech, learning, planning and solving the problem. When any

system adapts itself according to situation in any environment is called

intelligent. In other words, it can be defined as programming such machines

which can think and act with some level of human intelligence is known as

artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence can be defined as efficiently use of

limited resources. So artificial intelligence can be defined as making computer

programs to solve complex problems same like as human solve the problems.

So it is also divided into two parts one is to solving complex problems by the

machine and second is same like human beings. The term artificial intelligence

is also used to describe a property of machines or programs: the intelligence

that the system demonstrates. Artificial intelligence is combination of science

and engineering for making the machines which behaves in intelligent manner.

In it many fields are combined like philosophy, psychology and computer

science.
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation or approximation of human

intelligence in machines. The goals of artificial intelligence include computer-

enhanced learning, reasoning, and perception.AI is being used today across

different industries from finance to healthcare.Weak AI tends to be simple and

single-task oriented, while strong AI carries on tasks that are more complex

and human-like.
