Motivation
Teachers says…..
Today, we are going to play a game called “ GUESS THE PICTURE “
The teacher will be going to show pictures from the class. The students will then
guess what is the picture all about . This activity enhances engagement and participation
in a fun and interactive way.

Very Good! You have accurately identified our topic for today! Preparing materials

lesson
It is important that we prepare materials first , as it ensures quality, accuracy, and
efficiency in the garment-making process. It allows you to check the quality of the
fabric and other materials, ensuring they are defect-free and suitable for the design. It
also helps in accurate cutting and stitching, preventing wastage of materials. Moreover,
having all materials ready before starting speeds up the process, saving time and effort.
In addition, at the end of the lesson you will be assessed and rated with rubric.
C. Presenting Processing Question/s:
examples/instances The teacher will be asking volunteer/s from the class to answer the following question/s;
of the new lesson

1. Why is there a need to prepare the materials first before proceeding to the next
step in making children’s wear?

2. What are the materials do you think are needed for making children’s wear?

WHAT IS A FABRIC?
D. Discussing new Fabric refers to a flexible material made by weaving or knitting fibers together. It
concepts and is commonly used in the production of clothing, upholstery, and various household
practicing new items. Fabrics can be made from natural fibers such as cotton, silk, or wool, or synthetic
skills #1 fibers like polyester or nylon. The type of fabric used can greatly impact the texture,
durability, and overall quality of a product. Fabrics come in a wide range of colors,
patterns, and textures, allowing for endless possibilities in design and creativity.

E. Discussing new
concepts and STEPS IN PREPARING THE FABRIC BEFORE CUTTING
practicing new There are several steps to follow in sewing children’s wear. These steps are grouped
skills #2 according to pre – construction and construction processes.

Pre – Construction Processes

Here are the steps in preparing the fabrics before cutting.

1. Pre – Shrinking
- Check the label to see if the fabric has been pre shrunk.

2. Straightening the fabric

- Check if the lengthwise threads and crosswise threads run perpendicular
to each other. If not, straighten the fabric by pulling with hands.

3. Ironing
- To press and flatten the fabric to remove the crease of the fabric.
