Introduction
REQUIRED! The x-ray room components and any peripheral devices must be in
place, working properly, and configured before installing the
PlatinumOne system. This will save valuable time when trouble
shooting problems, and will lead to the best image quality possible for
the PlatinumOne.
Packing List? For a copy, call InfiMed Order Services at 1-800-825-8845 ext. 233.
Site Planning For a copy, check with your organization. If necessary call InfiMed Order
Guide? Services. E-mail or FAX available. Available on InfiMed web site,
(www.infimed.com Customer Care section)
Pre-Installation If you don’t have the completed version, check with your organization. If
Survey? necessary, contact InfiMed to see if a copy was submitted. If the form was
not completed use the Site Planning Guide to complete one now. Then
answer the remaining questions for this step. When complete, contact
InfiMed Field Service if you have any questions or problems.
Room Layout? The dealer should have completed a drawing as part of the Pre-Installation
Survey. If this was not done, use the Site Planning Guide as a reference and
discuss with the site personnel the preferred location for each component.
It’s a good idea to sketch the room layout if not done previously.
Enough Table A flat work surface (table or cart) is required to hold the operator controls.
Space? • Enough room for comfortable use of the keyboard?
• Enough room for comfortable use of pointing device?
• Table/cart at a suitable height.
• If space is limited, consider using a retractable keyboard shelf (not
supplied by InfiMed). Consult the site personnel for their preferences.
Suitable Refer to the Site Planning Guide for details on required cables, routing
Conduits? restrictions, cable sizes and lengths. Also, consider cables for other devices
in the x-ray room and control room. Take whatever steps are necessary to
ensure there is an acceptable path for each of the PlatinumOne cables.
Generator The generator must function properly prior to making any connections
Functioning between it and the PlatinumOne.
Properly? Optics Cube: The x-ray system must be equipped with such devices that
will allow the PlatinumOne camera to view the output phosphor of the image
intensifier during fluoroscopy, photospots, and Cine acquisition (depending
on type of room).
Fluoro Dose Control: Control of the fluoroscopic KV and mA can be
provided either internally from the x-ray system via image intensifier output
Document #745-106-G1 16
Introduction
sampling, or from ABC feedback from the camera. If Camera based ABC
feedback is utilized, the x-ray system must be equipped with the necessary
circuits to receive the ABC feedback signal from the camera.
Photospot Dose Control: The control of the x-ray dose during photospot
acquisition must be provided by the x-ray system via image intensifier
sampling. The exposure consistency of the photo-timer must be within +/-
10%. The photo-timer must be capable of accurately controlling the dose of
the photospot acquisition at a rate of up to 15 FPS, must be self-resetting
after each exposure, have a resolution of 1 millisecond or less, and be
capable of 70% sampling field size.
Generator The image quality will likely be severely compromised with a Gx of less than
Within 120 and may be compromised with a gain between 120 and 160. InfiMed
Limits? strongly recommends that an II with a Gx of less than 150 be changed before
installing any digital imaging system.
Pulsed Fluoro? In order to use the Pulsed Fluoro feature with the PlatinumOne, the
generator must support Pulsed Fluoro, and have been approved by InfiMed.
Refer to the chart in Appendix C at the back of this manual for a list of
approved generators. If the generator make/model is not listed, and the site
intends to use this feature, contact InfiMed Field Service. If the generator is
not capable of performing Pulsed Fluoro the PlatinumOne system will not
allow this feature, and no further action is required.
Generator handle Consult the x-ray generator manufacture’s manual for performance specs. If
15 frames/sec? the generator cannot handle 15 frames/sec.spot imaging, inform the site
personnel.
Correct Camera The specific mounting hardware for the CCD camera is site dependent. The
Mount Type? camera mount type should have been determined when completing the Pre-
Installation Survey. If the Pre-Install Survey was not completed prior to the
PlatinumOne shipment, consult the generator manufacturer’s manual, or
remove the light distributor and look at the existing camera to determine the
exact camera mount type needed. Then verify on the Packing List the
correct mount was sent.
Power Source If the power source does not meet the criteria as outlined in the Site Planning
Acceptable? Guide, the InfiMed Power Conditioner MUST be installed.
Document #745-106-G1 17
Introduction
Monitor Consult the room layout diagram or the hospital personnel to determine the
Hardware? preferred location of the Image Monitors. Image Monitors are shipped with
removable bases. InfiMed recommends that the tilt/swivel base be
removed from the monitor (all types of monitors) before mounting the
monitor to an unstable surface such as a cart or hanging bracket. For the
Optional Bright View Monitors, replacement-mounting brackets must be
ordered (735-736-G1 [21”] or 735-736-G2 [17”]).
If using a cart, InfiMed recommends that a handle be attached to the cart for
safe handling of the cart/monitor. To attach the monitor to a cart or to a
hanging bracket, consider how the monitor will be attached to the surface.
Instructions for positioning and mounting the monitors are given in Step 4,
Component Placement.
Modem Line? InfiMed requires that the modem included with the PlatinumOne be used in
order to receive Warranty Service. It is best to have the modem line installed
and functioning before beginning the PlatinumOne installation. This is the
only way that InfiMed Field Service can provide support via the modem once
the system is installed. The PlatinumOne includes a 6-foot modem cable. A
longer cable can be provided if necessary. The modem connection requires
a separate, dedicated phone line that does not run through any hospital
switchboard systems.
Low Res. If either a low-resolution monitor or VCR is being used with the PlatinumOne,
Monitor/VCR? the Scan Converter option must be ordered from InfiMed. Check the
Packing List to see if this option is mentioned. If not, contact InfiMed to order
it. The line rate of the monitor must be known. Most VCR’s in the United
States use a 525-line rate, NTSC type, and most VCR’s in Europe use a
625-line rate, PAL type. Check the actual hardware or manufacturer’s
literature to verify the line rate.
Both Laser Two cables are required—the Image Transfer cable supplied by the laser
Cables? manufacturer; and the Serial Extension / or RS232 Communications cable,
which can be supplied by InfiMed (250 ft only). Refer to the PlatinumOne
Packing List to see if the RS232 cable was shipped.
Laser Manuals? The laser manuals may be needed during the PlatinumOne installation.
Laser Install, calibrate and test the laser before making any cable connections with
Functioning? the PlatinumOne system. Follow the laser manufacturer’s instructions for
printing out a test image to verify the laser is functioning.
Document #745-106-G1 18
Introduction
Laser Check with the laser manufacturer representative to verify the laser has
Configured? been configured to operate with the PlatinumOne system.
Blank Disks? If the PlatinumOne system includes the optional CD Recorder, testing the
PlatinumOne recording capabilities will require at least one disk. InfiMed
recommends using Medical Grade, minimum 74min, and 650 MB compact
disk media.
Network The Network address and host name information must be obtained from the
Information? Network Administrator. This information can then be entered into the
PlatinumOne system when the system parameters are set.
Refer to the chart in Appendix C at the back of this manual for a list of
approved DICOM Network devices.
Network Drop? The site must provide the network connection cable. Work with the site’s
Network Administrator to arrange the cable connection from the PC cabinet
back to the DICOM server. The PlatinumOne supports 100 Base-T, RJ45
connections.

1. Introduction
The Two State Inputs, Relay Outputs, Open Collector Drives, and Analog ABS
signals are used in the “Standard” PlatinumOne generator interface scheme.
The circuit below depicts an opto-isolator that senses inputs from the X-ray Generator
The Input Circuits are located on the GIM board. Signals such as Fluoro On, Prep, and
Request are input signals. Since the Opto-isolator contains bi-directional (AC) diodes,
current may flow either way through the input circuit. Voltages from 5 to 32 VDC may be
applied across the Input + and Input -. The + and - designators are for identification
purposes only.
The circuit below depicts an output signal from the PlatinumOne system. The relays
that are used to generate outputs from the system to the X-ray Generator are located on
the I/O Board of the Image Processor. Signals such as Photospot In / Photospot Out
are an example of the output signals.
WARNING: Relay contact switching capacity must not exceed 1A, 30 VDC.
The circuit below depicts the circuit used to drive the clock signal generated on the GIM
board to the host X-ray system. The polarity and pulse width of the generated is
configurable in the system CONFIG screens. The output is an open collector with an
operating range between 5 and 32 VDC.

An optional ABS drive signal is available from the GIM module. The drive signal outputs
can be configured for a variety of output ranges to meet different x-ray system
manufacturers input requirements.
The Standard selections are:
0V - 12V 0V-6V
+/- 12V Differential +/- 6V Differential
+/- 3V Differential Custom
Once all components are in place and cable connections between components have been
made, the Generator Interface Module and the x-ray generator can be connected. Make sure
all components are powered down prior to beginning this step.
WARNING! Unplug the main power cords from the wall plug, PC- Isolation
Transformer, Power Conditioner (if present), and UPS (if present).
• Double check room layout for position of components for correct routing of
cabling.
• Study GIM Signal definitions (Tables 1-10) to determine which signals will be
used.
NOTE: Interconnection diagrams and GIM input definition tables follow the cable section
Identifying Cable
More than one cable may be provided with the system depending on the number of input
signals to be used. The cables are identical when shipped and must be marked
individually to differentiate between each port. Up to eight input ports and four output
ports are available so making this distinction before cables are routed is critical.
The ABS signal, Drive Signals, and Analog input and output signals are un-terminated
multi-conductor cables. Connection of these cables to the GIM is on terminal blocks

1. Using GIM Signal Definitions, make the determination as to which signals will be
used.
2. Label both ends of the input cable with appropriate name to differentiate.
3. Individual leads are labeled to correspond with Input Signal definitions to be
used. Determine which, if any, leads will not be used and secure back using
electrical tape.
Repeat this procedure for any other optional cables to be used with the system (Camera,
etc.)
1. Identify ports to be used for output signal. Refer to GIM Output definitions.
2. Label both ends of each cable with proper port number
3. Determine which relay wires will be used and secure unused leads using
electrical tape. Leads are individually labeled during manufacturing.
Use the charts that follow to identify cable and lead by color.
NOTE: Not all connections listed in Table 3 are needed for any configuration
The two state input signals are divided among 8 RJ-45 input connectors. Each cable
contains connection pairs for 4 input signals per cable. The cable used is standard Category
5 (CAT5). The output relay signals are divided among 4 RJ-11 input connectors. Each
cable contains connection pairs for 3 relay signals per cable. The cable used is standard
Category 5 (CAT5).
The Generator Interface Module (GIM) accepts input signals from the host x-ray system that are
either +\- 32 VDC filtered or unfiltered.
• When connecting the GIM to a host x-ray system that utilizes filtered DC control signals
(Ripple < 10% of the signal voltage), the internal AC filter on the GIM should be disabled.
• When connecting the GIM to a host x-ray system that utilizes unfiltered DC control
signals (Ripple > 10% of the signal voltage), the internal AC filter on the GIM should be
enabled.
Figure 7 – DC Signals
The input signal AC filter is Enabled / Disabled by the position of jumper P12 on the GIM board
P12 1-2 removed = AC filters disabled. P12 1-2 inserted = AC filters enabled.
P12
Connecting the AC jumper to pins #1 & 2 of P12 allows AC rectified signals to be used as inputs
to the GIM. Refer to Tables 1 - 10 and Figure 8.

The signal timing requirements are different for both pulsed and continuous fluoro operation
Pulsed Fluoro Select Indicates that the x-ray generator is configured to pulse at less
than 30 Hz. This line is OFF for 30 Hz pulsed fluoro and
continuous fluoro.
Fluoro (Rad) Pulse On Output from the generator to the digital system, that carries on
it a pulse train that represents the frequency that the generator
is pulsing at (i.e. 7.5 Hz, 3.75 Hz, 15 Hz, etc.). The pulse width
must be between .5mS and 30 msec for the digital system to
guarantee that the pulse will be read correctly.
Pulsed Fluoro V Drive Sources from the GIM and sends a signal at a 30Hz rate from
the digital system to the X-ray generator.
Fluoro (Rad) Pulse On This is an output from the generator to the digital system, and
carries on it a pulse train representing the frequency at which the
generator is pulsing at. (i.e. 3.75 Hz, 7.5 Hz, 15 Hz, etc.). The
pulse width must be between .5 mS and 16 mS long for the
digital system to guarantee that the pulse will be read correctly.
This line must be ON when continuous fluoro is ON (Not
pulsing).
Pulsed Fluoro V Drive Sources from the GIM and sends a signal at a 30Hz rate
from the digital system to the X-ray generator.
Once cable is routed, match up individual leads to proper input signal definitions. Leads
are individually labeled to match line numbers on chart (example: Input Signal Fluoro
Rad ON – P1, port 1 – Input + find input + and minus leads – leads are the same color
and tagged with input +/-)
Make appropriate connections to generator. The signals between the x-ray generator through
the generator interface module (GIM) to the PlatinumOne are defined as follows. Unless
otherwise noted, all signals are inputs to the system.
Fluoro Signals
Signal Name Definition Description
Fluoro On Fluoro Radiation On This signal is active when fluoro radiation is ON. It
(Required) causes the imaging system to display the live fluoro
image on the image monitor in "Fluoro" and "Map" modes
when fluoro radiation is ON. When inactive, the
PlatinumOne will maintain the last full frame of
fluoro on the image monitor. This signal is
overridden when the Prepare for Photospot signal is
active.
FOV Mag 1 Image Intensifier When this signal is active, the generator is in image
Mode 1 intensifier magnification mode 1. This signal is inactive
during normal image intensifier magnification.
(Optional)
FOV Mag 2 Image Intensifier When this signal is active, the generator is in image
Mode 2 intensifier magnification mode 2. This signal is inactive
during normal image intensifier magnification.
(Optional)

Drive (Output) ray generator during pulsed fluoro mode. This signal is
an output from the PlatinumOne generator interface
module (GIM). The frequency of the signal is a constant
30 Hz at all pulse rates.
Rad Type Spot Rad Type Spot When the signal is active the PlatinumOne is selected for
(Spot Select) digital spot image acquisition. When the signal is inactive
(Required for the PlatinumOne is deselected and will not acquire digital
Spot) spot images. If DIGITAL SPOT SELECT is not active,
the PlatinumOne will respond to the (PREP), (REQ), and
(RAD RDY) signals by displaying the flash of radiation
during the spot film camera exposure.
Prep Rad Exp Prepare for This signal is active when the operator is preparing for
Radiographic Radiographic Exposure. It signals when the generator is
Exposure (PREP) switching from “Fluoro” to “Radiographic” mode. This
signal is used for spot acquisition.
(Required for Spot
and Cine)
Req Rad Exp Request for This signal is active when the operator has requested a
Photospot Radiographic exposure and is ready to expose. This
Exposure signal is used for Spot acquisition.
(REQ)
Rad Exp On RAD Expose ON This signal indicates to the PlatinumOne that the
generator is producing radiographic radiation for
(Optional for Spot photospot imaging only. This signal is considered
– See Note) optional; however, the signal line must be installed when
the PHOTOSPOT IN/OUT relay open condition does not
terminate an exposure. Additionally, this line must be
installed for Tomography procedures. Also see the
NOTE.
Relay Outputs
This signal line is created from two lines, one on each side of the relay contact
Expose (Photospot) in the PlatinumOne. A relay closure allows the generator to make an
In/Out exposure. The (PREP), (REQ), and (RAD RDY if used) signals must be
(Required for Spot) present in order for the relay to close. Also referred to as EXPOSURE
CONTROL/EXPOSURE COMMAND. Photo-spot Expose In & Out prevent
photo-spot exposure until the PlatinumOne closes the relay.
The relay is closed within 60mS after the request line is ON, and will remain
closed for 200mS with the exception of the following:
15FPS 33mS
10FPS 67mS
7 FPS 100mS
6 FPS 133 mS
5 FPS 167 mS
The exposure should be completed within the time when the relay is closed
unless the RAD EXPOSE ON line is connected. The RAD EXPOSE ON line
will allow for longer exposure times and automatically reduce the frame rate as
required.
Injector Sync In & This relay closure is used to synchronize an Acquisition run with a contrast
Out injection
Table Step In & Out This relay closure is used to allow the x-ray table to step to the next position.
Subtraction In & Out This relay closure is used to signal the generator that a subtracted run has
been enabled.
This signal line is used as a clock signal for firing the x-ray generator during
Pulsed Fluoro V pulsed fluoro mode. This signal is an output from the PlatinumOne generator
Drive interface module (GIM). The frequency of the signal is a constant 30 Hz at all
pulse rates.
Cine Enable This relay will be open when the system is busy and cannot properly store cine
images. The relay will be closed when PREP and REQ are active and the
system is ready to acquire.
Cine Rate The cine rate relay is used as an output from the GIM to indicate which cine
rate (15 or 30 FPS) the PlatinumOne rate the user currently has selected for
acquire. The Open / Close states can be programmed in the configuration
menus.

Each of the Two State Input signals (Fluoro On, Prep, etc.) has a companion LED status
indicator on the GIM board showing the current status (ON or OFF) of each input signal
from the generator.
The Service Screen also has real time status displays that show the current state of
each generator input signal being reported to it by the GIM. This Screen is also useful
for identifying which cables and input signals are associated with each function.
It is critical that each generator signal pulse matches the active high or active low of the
line as it is installed. Signal pulse verification will indicate if the active pulse of any signal
line is incorrect. This process is accessed through Service Applications.
1. Position the cursor over the generator signal portion of the screen, and click
the left button.
2. The screen will show an enlarged display of the signal lines.
If the line status changes as indicated in the tables that follow, the lines are working
properly. If this is not the case, re-check the lines for correct connection and placement.
Then check any optional functions installed to see if they function correctly.

Select the Minimize button to close the enlarged view of the signal lines.
NOTE: Before proceeding with this step, power off the entire system including the GIM.
Once the tests have been run and all settings verified, complete the installation by securing the
GIM to either the wall or the X-ray generator cabinet. The GIM can be positioned on either the
top or the side of the cabinet.
NOTE: The GIM box has an opening through which cables are routed. If the GIM box is
installed on the wall or the side of the generator cabinet, make sure that this
opening is facing down. Such positioning will prevent any contact with live
parts and which parts might become live in single fault conditions.

Excellent-quality digital images are best achieved with settings of 100KVP or less due to the
inherent characteristics of the image intensifier and digital camera combination. 120 KVP should
not be used for most digital imaging systems.
In addition, lower dose exposures are a significant advantage of digital systems, but when
combined with high KVP cause inadequate exposure technique with many generators, due to
insufficient exposure times.
Recommended Ranges
NOTE: Failure to install the x-ray generator signal line for RAD EXPOSE ON will result
in exposure termination at 180 milliseconds.

Signal Definitions: The signals between the x-ray generator and Imaging system are defined
as follows:
Signal Description
Fluoro On This signal is active when fluoro radiation is ON. It causes the system to
display the live fluoro image on the image monitor in “Fluoro” mode. When
inactive, the system will maintain the last full frame of fluoro on the image
monitor. This signal is overridden when the Prepare for photospot signal is
active.
P Fluoro ON (Pulsed Fluoro ON) This signal indicates to the system that the generator
is currently generating an x-ray pulse. It is used to synchronize the
acquisition of images with the x-ray exposure.
Pfluoro Select (Pulsed Fluoro Select) When this signal is active, the system will acquire a
pulsed fluoro sequence of images at the selected rate
Prep Rad Exp This signal is active when the operator is preparing for Radiographic
Exposure. It signals when the generator is switching from “Fluoro” to
“Radiographic” mode. This signal is used for both cine and spot
acquisition.
Req Rad Exp This signal is active when the operator has requested a Radiographic
exposure and is used for both cine and spot acquisition.
Rad Ready (Radiographic Exposure Ready) – This optional signal indicates that the
generator is ready to respond to the operator’s request for a Radiographic
exposure. This signal is used for both cine and sport acquisition.
NOTE: If this signal is configured, both REQ and RAD RDY are required
to initiate a radiographic or cine exposure
Rad Exp On This signal indicates to the system that the generator is producing
radiographic radiation for photospot imaging. It is considered an optional
signal. However, the signal line must be installed when the Spot in/Out
relay open condition does not terminate an exposure. Additionally, this
line must be installed for Tomography procedures.
NOTE: Failure to install the RAD EXPOSE ON line will limit the usable
radiographic exposure time to 200 milliseconds.
Rad Type Spot When this signal is enabled, the system is selected for digital spot image
acquisition. When the signal is inactive, the system will not acquire digital
spot images. If neither Spot nor Cine is active, the system will respond to
the PREP, REQ and RAD RDY signals by displaying the flash of radiation
during the spot film camera exposure.
Single/Rapid This signal selects the radiographic spot acquisition for single image or a
rapid series
Store Image This signal causes the system to store the currently displayed fluoro image
to the system hard drive. This signal line is required only if an external
Fluoro Store button/switch is to be installed.
Cine Select 1/Cine Select 2 When one or more of these signals is active, the system enters digital Cine
mode for acquisition of a dynamic sequence.
FOV Mag 1 When this signal is active, the generator is in magnification mode 1.
FOV Mag 2 When this signal is active, the generator is in magnification mode 2.
FOV Mag 3 When this signal is active, the generator is in magnification mode 3.
Reverse-H This signal causes the acquired image to flip horizontally during acquisition
and is only require if an external Reverse-H button/switch is to be installed.
Reverse-V This signal causes the acquired image to flip vertically during acquisition
and is only require if an external Reverse-V switch is to be installed.

1. Calibration
PlatinumOne has been designed to calibrate either automatically or manually. Each step of the
Auto Calibration procedure is discussed in this section. We recommend that only factory
trained service personnel use the manual calibration functions. Auto Calibration was designed
to take the process through the correct progression. When calibrating manually, each function
is selected specifically.
For the purpose of this manual, the actual functionality of these screens will be discussed and
can be applied to either operation.
NOTE: If any failures are detected, an error message window will be displayed. The Power
Down procedure should be followed in order to shut down the software. The cable
connections should then be rechecked -- especially the hard drive interconnecting
cables inside the PC cabinet. After these steps are taken, repeat the power up
sequence. If system continues to report errors do not continue with this procedure,
instead contact technical support.
Open Service Application (Refer to Step 3 for information on accessing Service Applications).
When the System Auto is selected, the Auto-Calibration sequence will begin.
When System Manual is selected, the buttons in the column under Measuring Fields are
activated allowing selection of function.
Detailed procedural
instructions
• Auto calibration will take you through each step of a full camera calibration sequence in
the correct order. Online instructions explaining how to perform each of the steps are
displayed in the instruction window during each step.
• Use up and down arrow keys and slider bar to scan complete set of instructions within
this window. Within each step are written instructions describing the procedure. System
defaults to Measuring Fields: Image Screen.
• Click on the button at the bottom on the screen to run each step.
• After the step has been completed successfully, a window will be displayed with
calibration status for the step. Select YES to continue and then click Next to proceed to
the next step of the procedure.

Circle Mask
This function sets the black software mask so that it surrounds the phosphor output
window image displayed on the monitor. This routine uses an edge detection algorithm
to find the edge of the projected image. The circle mask has a range in size from 900 to
1070 pixels in diameter.
Follow the instructions in the dialog and then click Run. When the step is finished, a
window will be displayed with calibration status for the step. Select Yes and then click
Next to proceed to the next step of the procedure.
The size of the image displayed depends on the relationship in sizes of the Output phosphor
window, collimating lens focal length, camera lens focal length and CCD sensor size. An auto
cal setting of minimum or maximum likely indicates too small or too large of an image projected
on the CCD sensor.

System Calibration
The first step of the Preventive Maintenance procedure is to perform the System Calibration if
the image quality on the monitors or on printed images looks unacceptable. Use the procedure
described in step #6 of this manual – System Calibration.
This test allows Real-Time System Calibration display on the Image Monitor. System Calibration
is an automated procedure.
NOTE: If the camera is re-calibrated, the new settings should be saved to the system
and to a floppy disk. See the instructions in BACK-UP/RESTORE SOFTWARE
SETTINGS.
The second step of the Preventive Maintenance procedure is to save the software feature
parameters and System Calibration settings to floppy disks. This provides a quick and easy
means of restoring the PlatinumOne system parameters if one of the main components in the
PC needs to be replaced.
NOTE: There are separate procedures for saving the system and camera settings.

Mechanical Maintenance
The third step of the Preventive Maintenance procedure is to check the overall functionality and
appearance of each major component in the PlatinumOne system.
Cleaning
The fourth step of the Preventive Maintenance procedure involves keeping the system clean
and free of dust and debris.
NOTE: Under normal conditions, system components do not come into contact with any
substance that would require the equipment to require sterilization or disinfection.
In the event of such an occurrence, shut down the system and contact your
Service Organization or InfiMed Customer Care immediately for instructions.
To clean the PlatinumOne PC and associated components first power-down the PlatinumOne
system. Unplug the main power cord (connected between the Isolation Transformer and the
power source) from the wall plug. Clean the external surfaces of the cabinet, Isolation
Transformer and any other peripheral devices installed with the PlatinumOne. Use a soft cloth
for cleaning. DO NOT use harsh chemicals or abrasives.
Document#745-106-G1 PM-17
Preventive Maintenance
From time to time routine cleaning of the peripherals may be necessary. Use the following
procedures for cleaning these items. Do not expose any system component surface to water,
or any corrosive cleaners.
Monitor Screen The monitor screen can be cleaned with ordinary household glass cleaner.
Be sure to remove power from the monitor and spray the cleaner onto a lint
free cloth so the fluid doesn't leak into the electrical components inside the
monitor. Vacuum off any dust that has settled on top of the monitor, and
make sure no books or papers have been placed on the air vents.
Obstructed monitor vents can cause the monitor to overheat or even catch
on fire. Anti-static wipes are also available commercially to clean monitor
screen. For further information, refer to the manual that was provided by the
manufacturer of the monitor.
Keyboard Clean the keyboard by using compressed air contained in a can with a very
long nozzle. Aim the air between the keys and blow away all the dust and
debris that has gathered there. A vacuum cleaner can be used, but make
sure the keyboard doesn't have "pop off" keys that could possibly be sucked
up by the vacuum.
2. Place two fingers on the mouse cover and push in the direction of the
arrows.
3. Once the cover has rotated about an inch, rotate the mouse into its
normal position covering the bottom of the mouse with one hand.
The bottom should fall off and the mouse ball should be accessible.
4. Once the bottom cover and the ball are removed, three rollers located
within the mouse will be visible.
5. Use your finger and/or fingernail and move around the rollers in a
horizontal directions. This action will loosen up any debris in the
middle or the roller for removal.
6. Once as much dirt has been removed as possible, place the ball back
inside the mouse and replace cover.
7. If, after cleaning, the mouse still is not function properly, replacement
may be necessary.

Appendix D – Pulsed Fluoro Configuration
There are currently two methods of interfacing Pulsed Fluoro to the PlatinumOne system. The
first method uses the pulsed fluoro select signal (similar to FC2000 version). The second
method does not require a pulsed fluoro select signal. Both methods of interfacing Pulsed
Fluoro require the proper use of a radiation pulse on signal.
Radiation Pulse On - (FL PULSE ON [for pulsed fluoro systems only] or RAD PULSE ON [for
systems that support Cine]). The radiation pulse on indicates to the PlatinumOne system that
the generator is currently generating an x-ray exposure (Cine or Pulsed Fluoro). This pulse
must be active for a minimum of 10 milliseconds and a maximum of 30 milliseconds. See the
following figures for examples of its behavior during the different pulsed fluoro settings.
Pulsed Fluoro Select - (PFLUORO SEL) The pulsed fluoro select signal indicates to the
PlatinumOne system that pulse fluoro radiation at less than 30 frames per second is selected.
This signal must be active anytime pulsed fluoro radiation at less than 30 frames per second is
active and the generator is using the first method of interfacing pulsed fluoro. See the following
figures for examples of its behavior during the different pulsed fluoro settings.

Monitor Alignment
NOTES: The Image Monitors require five minutes to warm up after being powered on and
after synchronizing with the PlatinumOne. Do not make any Image Monitor
measurements during the first five minutes.
1. From the Service Application Menu, select the Test Pattern button.
3. Make sure the Window/Level settings are set to 512/512 (lower right corner).
4. Use the Brightness and Contrast controls to set them both to maximum values,
then slowly lower the brightness until the black of the circle mask (area
surrounding the image portion of the screen) is just slightly brighter than the very
edge of the CRT screen.
• The black bar on the bottom of the image (the one with the small white
bar in it) has the same visual darkness as the black mask surrounding the
image.
• The 95% inner black box is visible in the 100% black box (located lower
at the lower left center of the image).
• The 95% inner white box is visible in the 100% white box (located at the
lower right center of the image).
6. Select the INVERT button from the feature menu portion of the main Image
Monitor screen. When the image is inverted, the white bar should be on the right
side of the image and the black bar on the left (not on the Reference Image
Monitor).
7. Repeat steps 4, 5, & 6 for all optional Image Monitors connected to the
PlatinumOne system.
