OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECTS:
The project's proponents aim to achieve the following
objectives:
Facilitate efficient navigation within buildings,
thereby minimizing confusion and time wastage by
directing students, faculty, and visitors to their
intended destinations effectively.
Deter vandalism on walls and other surfaces while
also enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the
building.
Supplying essential details like room numbers and
guidance to facilities or amenities within the
building, thus improving the overall satisfaction and
convenience of students, faculty, and visitors.
projeCt DESCRIPTON
BACKGROUND OF THE
PROJECT
Navigating the Kalubihan building, also known as the Engineering
Building, can be challenging due to its size and complexity.
Feedback from students, faculty, and visitors has highlighted the
need for improved way finding within the building.
To address this issue, our team is implementing a project to
enhance the navigational experience by installing clear and visible
signage on every floor. By strategically placing signage at key
locations, we aim to streamline navigation and reduce confusion
for all users.
The decision to focus on signage is based on its proven
effectiveness in guiding individuals within indoor environments.
High-quality materials and strategic placement will ensure the
longevity and durability of the signage, maximizing its effectiveness
over time.
Ultimately, this project aims to create a more intuitive and
userfriendly navigational framework within the Kalubihan,
benefiting students, faculty, staff, and vicitors alike.
JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT
The project “Signboard for Good: Tumong Kung Asa Ka
Padong” implemented in schools that serves as a practical
instrument to improve students journey within the school
premises. By giving transparent and visually appealing
signboards, students can simply locate classrooms, facilities,
and important areas in the specific building. This will not
only lessen confusion and time spent searching for your
destinations but it also encourage a sense of self-reliance
and obligation among students. Moreover, the project can
contain positive messages or quotes along with guidance,
encouraging a supportive and inspiring the environment
within the school. Additionally, putting up these signs can
make schools safer by showing the best ways to leave
during emergencies and where students should go. In
general, having these signs in schools helps things run
smoothly and it makes people feel comfortable, and keeps
everyone safe, which makes learning better for students.
BENEFITS DERIVED FROM
THE PROJECT
“Tumong kung asa ka padung” project if it given a chance to be
implemented, there are many benefits and importance of having a
signboard on each floor it helps the students navigate the building
efficiently and it allows identification of classrooms each floor, offices, and
other facilities. And can supports a conductive learning environment by
providing clear guidance and reducing distractions caused by confusion or
disorientation. The most important of having a signboard on each floor is to
provides safety and important information such as emergency exit routes,
locations of fire extinguishers, first air stations, and assembly points to have
easy access.
In conclusion, it is critical for schools to have signboards on every floor in
order to facilitate effective way finding, guarantee safety, uphold
organization, encourage communication, improve accessibility, convey
professionalism, and enhance the overall visitor experience. It is an
essential tool for establishing a welcome, secure, and productive learning
environment for all parties involved.
COVERAGE OF THE
PROJECT
Students, instructors in the College of
Engineering Department, Instructors in
other University departments and visitors
will all benefit from this project.
Furthermore, the Kalubihan Building
(Engineering Building) will be the district
covered by this project, and it shall be
placed at the entrance to each floor's
staircase both entrance and exit.
METHODOLOGY
Our team aims to enhance the navigational experience for students at the
Kalubihan building, also known as the Engineering Building. The
implementation of this project involves installing signage on every floor of
the building to ensure that students can find their way around with ease. To
achieve this objective, we have devised a plan to purchase high-quality
laminated plates with precise dimensions of 3 inches on width and 6 inches
in length. We will also print clear and visible signage on stickers, which will
be attached to the laminated plates using a heavy-duty adhesive. The
combination of these two components will ensure that the signage remains
durable and long-lasting. In addition to the materials, we have strategically
identified the locations where the signage will be placed. Specifically, we
will position the signage at the entrance and exit points of the Kalubihan
building to provide an immediate point of reference for students. We
believe that this will significantly reduce any confusion and help students
navigate the building more effectively.
