777: The Northern Runway 05L/23R can only be used for a limited number of hours every
week. The Southern Runway 05R/23L is the preferred runway for Takeoffs and Landings.
If both runways are in use, expect 05R/23L to be used for Departures and Landings and
05L/23R to be used exclusively for Arrivals. As ATC may clear you for approach on either the
Left or Right Runway, pay particular attention to the identification of the correct runway.
EK 777 tire pressures fall within acceptable tolerances for the 210 PSI limit published for DUS
and therefore do not restrict EK operations in DUS.

ARRIVAL
If both runways are in use, normally Rwy 23R/05L will be used for arrivals. Crew reports
indicate, if landing off of RWY 23L and exiting off on taxiway PAPA, there are no taxiway lines
to guide aircraft to parking stand.
Movement Areas:
Ramp/Parking: The Docking Guidance System has now been changed to VDGS
“SAFEGATE”.
777: Expect parking at Gate C-2 or C-7. Crew should exercise caution when approaching
Stand C-7 parking bay. Lido charts refer to the use of the AGNIS Parking System, however
there are reports that the older light bar system placed to the right of the flight deck window
is in use. If in doubt, stop the aircraft and request a ground marshaller to assist.
Caution advised when parking as Gate C7 is in close proximity to service building, taxi lane is
narrow and single engine not advised due to buildings and 90 degree turn into gate. Aircraft
pushed from alley tend to hold abeam/parallel to stand V-74 while waiting for inbound
aircraft to park.

Handling/Refueling: On arrival at the aircraft in DUS, the crew will be given the expected Zero
Fuel Weight for the flight. The fuel required is to be calculated based on this figure and
refueling completed before passenger boarding commences. Crews are requested to report
all differences between the expected ZFW and the final ZFW, and any occasions when
refueling is not complete before passenger boarding begins, on the Captains special report.

Earliest DCL request time is 25 minutes prior to EOBT. Latest response time from ATC is 11
minutes before EOBT.

Remain on Dusseldorf tower frequency until passing 2000’ to contact radar.
777: If both runways are in use, normally Rwy 23L/05R will be used for departures. The LPC
performance for a 05R takeoff is based on taxiing out onto the disused runway and departing
from there. However there is also a taxiway Alpha which could mistakenly be used.
General Information:
Noise: The airport is extremely noise sensitive and there is a night curfew.
Geography: The airport is located 4nm North from the city centre. Dusseldorf airport is
situated on a flat plain free of geographical obstructions.
Weather: The predominant direction of the wind is south westerly. Winds from the SW
generally bring good conditions. Winds from the SE are most frequent during the night and
early morning.
Poor conditions can be expected with a strong wind from this quarter. Light winds from the
NW are most frequently associated with low ceilings and/or visibility. This is the most
relevant direction for fog formation. During summer months cyclonic activity is less frequent
and less pronounced.
Summer cyclones produce precipitation and cloudiness similar to the winter migratory low
pressure systems. Summertime precipitation is mainly the result of showers within the
convectively unstable air masses rather than the movement of deep cyclones. Weak fronts
however often contribute to the precipitation. Extensive frontal cloud with low bases persist
during late autumn, winter and early spring. Widespread fog is common in anti-cyclonic
conditions; however, visibility will usually improve to some extent during the day. Conditions
of very low cloud often associated with continuous rain and snow can be expected mainly in
winter and early spring. During spring and summer, showers and thunderstorms
predominate. Fog is a common phenomenon from September until April.

German authorities may carry out random check of EK security measures, licenses and
documentation onboard the aircraft.
