ANIMAL TISSUE

GROUP 7.
4 TYPES OF TISSUE
Epithelial
Muscular
Connective
Nervous
EPITHELIAL
Epithelial tissue covers the outside of the body
and lines organs, vessels (blood and lymph), and
cavities. Epithelial cells form the thin layer of
cells known as the endothelium, which is
continuous with the inner tissue lining of organs
such as the brain, lungs, skin, and heart. The
free surface of epithelial tissue is usually exposed
to fluid or the air, while the bottom surface is
attached to a basement membrane.
MUSCULAR TISSUE
are derived from the
mesodermal layer of
embryonic germ cells
in a process known as
myogenesis. There are
three types of muscle,
skeletal or striated,
cardiac, and smooth.
Muscle action can be
classified as being
either voluntary or
involuntary.
CONNECTIVE TISSUES
Definition function

parts of the body (such tissue that connects,

as ligaments, tendons, supports, binds, or
and cartilage) that separates other tissues
support and hold or organs, typically
together the other parts having relatively few
of the body (such as cells embedded in an
muscles, organs, and amorphous matrix, often
bones) with collagen or other
fibers, and including
cartilaginous, fatty, and
elastic tissues.
NERVOUS TISSUE
Nervous tissue makes up three major parts of our
nervous system: nerves, the spinal cord and the
brain. Our nervous system consists of two main
parts: the peripheral and central nervous
systems. The peripheral nervous system consists
of the nerves that extend to all reaches of the
body- the periphery. The central nervous system
is made up of the spinal cord and brain and is the
central processing center for all stimuli.
IT IS HARD TO IMAGINE A MOMENT DURING OUR WAKING HOURS WHEN OUR
SENSES ARE NOT IN USE. WE ARE CONSTANTLY BOMBARDED WITH SENSORY
INPUT, FROM A DELICIOUS AROMA WAFTING OUR WAY TO A PAINFUL STUBBED
TOE. ALL OF THIS INFORMATION IS PROCESSED BY OUR BRAIN EVERY
MILLISECOND. SOME SENSORY EXPERIENCES ARE POSITIVE, AND SOME WE'D
RATHER FORGET. BUT NONE OF OUR SENSES WOULD EVEN FUNCTION WITHOUT
THE EXISTENCE OF OUR NERVOUS SYSTEM.
END

God Bless.
