POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT PUMP

Positive-displacement pumps are another category

of pumps. Positive-displacement pumps operate by
forcing a fixed volume of fluid from the inlet
pressure section of the pump into the discharge
zone of the pump.
e.g. Rotary vane pump.
ROTARY VANE PUMP.
A rotary vane pump is a positive-
displacement pump that consists of vanes
mounted to a rotor that rotates inside of a
cavity.
 It was invented by Charles C. Barnes
of Sackville, New Brunswick who patented
it on June 16, 1874.
ADVANTAGES:
 Extraction rate: 0.43-560 m3 / min.
 Use the temperature: - 10 ℃ and 40 ℃.

 Supporting power: 7.5 - 560 kw.

 Over-current material: cast iron, stainless

steel.
DISADVANTAGES:

 The efficiency is low, generally around 30%,

better can amount to 50%.
 Vacuum degree is low, not only because this is
limited by the structure design , but the more
important is restricted by working liquid
saturation vapors pressure.
 Use water as working fluid, the limit pressure
can reach 2000 ~ 4000 pa. use Oil as working
fluid, the ultimate pressure can reach to 130
pa.
