A field visit was arranged in
our construction engineering
lab to Peshawar BRT(Bus
Rapid Transit).the
construction site was in the
phase-3 chowk. The moment
we arrived on the site we
had a feeling that we will
learn a lot in this will
influence us in many ways.
 There are three panels in BTR
stations-25.
 The first panel is for officers.
 Second is for public.
 The third panel is 3700sq.m.
 The grade-60 is used in the
construction as introduced by the
designer.
 The concrete used is of 4000psi also
reinforcement is provided.
 Slabs provided has thickness of
20cm.
Two types of columns were
provided rectangular and
circular but most of the
columns were circular because
they have more ductility .
Expansion joints.
Water stopper were also
provided.
All the beams had double
reinforcements in it and vertical
ties to resist the negative
stresses.
Not very high grade steel was
used because it becomes brittle
that’s why 60 grade steel was
used.
The maximum depth of the
beam was 1m along with the
stirrups.
• This was indeed a mega project we learned a lot about the field.
• In the field the important and necessary thing we learned was good
communication skills because it will effect all the project if you are
not a good influencer or communicator among your crew.
• We also learned on the spot electrical engineer who told us about the
electrical drawings and also guided us to explore our opportunities
after the completion of the degree as in intern.
• As a whole this was an effective site trip which was very educational
and we looking forward for the opportunities like this in the future.
