  ANALYSIS FOR BRICKWORK
• Consider first 10 cu.m.
A) CALUCLATION OF MATERIALS-
i. Size of brick with mortar = 10 cm x 10cm x 20 cm
ii. No. of brick =
iii. Size of brick without mortar = 9 cm x 9 cm x 19 cm
iv. Mortar required per 10 cu.m. = 10 – 5000 ( 0.09 x 0.09 x 0.19 ) = 2.3 cu.m.
v. Vol. of wet mortar ( increase by 15 %) = 2.3 + 2.3 (0.15) = 2.64 cu.m.
vi. For dry mortar, increase it by 33% = vol. = 2.64 x 1.33 = 3.51 cu.m. ( It is for first
class brick)
For second class brick volume of cement mortar = 4.0 cu.m.
(Note – for traditional brick size 10” x 5” x3”, no. of brick required 4100 nos. and
volume of mortar will remain same as above )

• Consider first 100 sq . m.
A) CALUCLATION OF MATERIALS-
i. Size of brick with mortar = 10 cm x 10cm x 20 cm
ii. No. of brick =
iii. Vol. of mortar increase by 35% of volume of work = 0.35 ( 100 x 0.1) = 3.5 cu.m.
iv. Due to half tk. Brick work, vol. of mortar becomes 10% less than 3.5 cu.m.
= 0.9 x 3.5 = 3.15 cu.m.
v. Cement = 3.15 / 4 = 0.79 cu.m. = 0.79 x 30 = 23.7 24 bags
sand = 0.79 x 3 = 2.37 cu.m.
vi. Wire netting for every third layer i.e. 30 cm intervals ( Wall L= 10 m & H = 10 m)
= 10 x 10/0. = 334 m

width of wire net = 10 cm

Area of netting = 334 x 0.1 = 33.4 sq. m.
