WHAT IS INSTINCT?
INSTINCT=FSA+KI+UN, where:
FSA is a fixed set of actions:.
KI - key incentive
UN - unmet need

IMPORTANT DISTINCTIVE
FEATURES OF
INSTINCTIVE BEHAVIOR:
Instinct is not adaptive (context is not
considered)
There is a clear model (algorithm) of
actions
Inborn (instinct manifests itself fully the
first time it is used, no need for training)
Instinct cannot be controlled
Instincts encourage you to look for an
incentive

EVOLUTION OF INSTINCTIVE BEHAVIOR
6
If in the behavior of invertebrates, arthropods and the first vertebrates (fish, amphibians, reptiles, most
birds) instincts are the key factor, then with the advent of mammals instincts gradually become
rudimentary, and variability develops.

8
A need is a lack of something that a person
feels necessary to maintain a normal life.
Inborn predispositions are in fact rudiments
from human instincts.
9
Linguistic inaccuracies.
The word instinct in English is a direct
synonym to words of flair, gut and
intuition, which leads to the wrong use of
the word and popularization of the wrong
concept, because instinct is a scientific
term that has certain features and needs to
be proved, while flair or intuition concepts
are ephemeral and abstract.
INSTINCT ≠ FLAIR
10
What we consider instincts in people are
needs or a consequence of learning.
Baldwin effect
11
In conclusion, I would like to say that discussions on the existence of instincts have been
going on for a long time. Science has been actively developing and is now moving towards
evidence, moving away from authoritarianism. Therefore, until the opposite is proved, it
can be considered that people have no instincts in their generally accepted form, and the
behavioral model depends on many factors that affect a person in the process of his
maturity, as well as physical and psychological development.
