According to DO 117, s. 1987, “Learners with disability, giftedness and

talents” are persons 1) who are gifted or talented and those 2) who have
physical, mental, social, or sensory impairment.

These persons may be gifted/talented, a fast learner, mentally retarded,

visually impaired, hearing impaired, with behavior problems,
orthopedically handicapped, with special health problems, learning
disabled, speech impaired, multiple handicapped.

During the Work Immersion Orientation for ABM, I have learned from the
mother of Ms. Angela Pacpaco, an ABM student, that she has a special
health problems due to Gestational Period. I have explained all the
aspects and activities for the Work Immersion Model and as per checking of
the schedule, it will be in this period that she will most like to be in
her Post- partum. These special health problem is a frequently overlooked
issue, often passed off as 'the baby blues', or blamed on simple hormonal
surges by those unfamiliar with its impact.

It can be an extremely serious problem for both mothers and infants, and
one that is negatively affecting nations attempting to improve their
maternal health statistics.

As a teacher, the first thing I will address is to talk to the student. I

will explain to her that the first part of the Work Immersion will be
Modular and there will also be Face-to- Face sessions especially when
there are consultations and checking of the students’ progress in their
plans. Angela will be group to her classmates which I know could uplift
her spirit to learn. It will be a Peer- teaching strategy which was group
based from their geographic location to facilitate learning engagement
freely and reduce cost associated to travelling. In this way, Angela could
also attend to the needs of her child without sacrificing much of her time
Even though with this special health conditions struggle in one are of
learning, they may excel to another. Hence, I will pay attention to
Angela’s interests and passion. I have learned that she enjoys creating
Tiktok videos so I talk her group to assign her in the making of their
Product Informercial. In this way, I can use differentiated instruction
where I will design my lessons based on my students’ learning style and
group them by shared interests or abilities. In this way, Angela could
easily feel sense of belongingness and recognition from her group by doing
their Product Infomercial.

These various approaches might undoubtedly enhance interest, develop her

passions, and could help her concentrate on the tasks given and encourage
her to participate actively in the Work Immersion Activities.

The main problems with postpartum depression lie in its ability to

negatively affect maternal functioning and therefore have the potential to
harm the child and its development, as well as the mother. To prevent
this to happen, I will communicate and reach out with Angela and her
parents frequently and collaborate with them to meet her needs and extend
uplifting words and encouragement.

Approaches to learners with this kind of special cases can be both

exhilarating and exhausting, especially those learners with learning
disability. We may feel frustrated trying to work with them, and it may
appear to be an uphill battle, but if we try to understand them and devote
our hearts and time to them, helping them to learn in their way of
learning cannot be tiring, but rather fulfilling and rewarding.

The activity below is part of the

lesson plan attached here,
designed for intercultural
differences in which indigenous
learners and non- indigenous
learners can both answer.
CONSTRUCTIVISM APPROACH

ACTIVITY1:PICTURE ANALYSIS
The teacher will show the
following pictures to the
students and give them time
to think.They will observe
the pictures shown and give
the corresponding answer.
I employed constructivist teaching because this approach will let
learners learn with their beliefs. Learning is actively involved in
the process of meaning and knowledge construction rather than
passively receiving information. With these, I can create a
collaborative problem- solving environment where my students become
active participants in their own learning.
