Match Column A with Column B. Write the letter in your notebook.
Study the following pictures below.
This time let us notice the third and fourth pictures.
These are the things that you use daily. Is it
important to take care of things that you own?
It is important for the owners to take care of these
things so that they will last long.
Now, let us look at the pictures and phrases below.
This is Karen. Karen has a bunch of keys.
Whose keys are these? They are Karen’s keys.
Notice that there is an apostrophe in the sentence.
Did you know that an apostrophe (‘) can also show
possession?
A Possession is something that belongs to someone.
Nouns that show possession are called possessive
nouns.
Let’s have other examples:
Sarah has a cat. It is Sarah’s cat.
Joe has a car. It is Joe’s car.
However, if the owner of the things is
more than one, then we can make the possessive
noun to plural form.
Example:
These are construction workers. These are the
tools that they all use.
Whose tools are these? They are the construction workers’
tools.
When a noun is plural, the apostrophe goes after the s.
Other examples:
The dogs have a house. That is the dogs’ house
My cousins live in that house. That is my cousins’ house.
B. Study the given sentences below. Notice the underlined word and
change it to possessive noun (add ‘s). Write it on your notebook.
Example: The food of the dog. It is the dog food. (dog’s)
1. The pencil belongs to the student. It is the student pencil.
2. The ball belongs to George. It is George ball.
3. The pillow belongs to my sister. It is my sister pillow.
4. The toys belong to Cole. They are Cole toys.
5. The shoes belong to Charlee. They are Charlee shoes.
