CHINESE CHECKERS

 A board game
 It can be played by 2 or 3 players
 Each players [laces 10 pieces of one colored marbles in ach
triangle
 The objective of the game is to move the marbles to an empty
opposite triangle and bring them in place by hopping over
one’s own or an opponent’s marbles in a single jump.
CHESS

 Originated in India, known as Chaturanga which means the


four parts of an army which are said to be elephants, horses,
chariot and foot soldiers.
 A game for two players using checkered board
 Each player moves with fixed restriction on the movement of
each type of piece, attempting to force the KING into position
where it is unable to escape capture.

VOLLEYBALL

 Invented by William G. Morgan in 1895 , director of the Young


Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in Massachusetts. He called it
“ mintonette” until one professor from Springfield College, named
it “volleyball” because he noted the volleying nature of the play
 A game played by two teams
 There are six players on a side
 The players use hand to bat a light inflated ball about 8 ½ inches
in diameter.
 Players try to make the ball touch the court within the opponent’s
playing area before it can be turned.
 Opponents prevent this by a player batting the ball up and toward
a teammate before it touches the court surface.
 Volleyball may be played indoor or outdoor by men and women of
all ages

 Invented by a 29 year-old physical training instructor, named
James A. Naismith. He posted his list of 13 rules for play in
Springfield, Massachusetts, in December, I891.

FOULS AND VIOLATION IN BASKETBALL

 Basketball is non-contact game


 A player must pass or dribble ( bounce ) the ball to secure
position
 A foul is committed whenever a player makes a contact with
an opponent to put him at a disadvantage
 A foul provides the offended player with a free throw, an
unhindered throw for a goal behind the foul line.
 If the shot misses, the player is awarded two free-throw
BASKETBALL TERMS AND MEANING

 Blocking- an illegal contact that obstruct the progress of the


opponents who does not have a ball.
 Dribble- ball movement by a player who taps the ball on the
floor and bounces it.
 Held ball- called when a player and his opponent have one or
two hands firmly upon the ball and neither can gain
progression
 Jump ball- the referee tosses the ball between two opponents
who try to tap it a teammate
 Pass- throwing, batting or rolling the ball to another player.
 Pivot- a player with a ball steps once or more in any direction
with he same foot while the other foot ( pivot foot) is kept at
its point of contact with the floor.
