Explain about procedure text , starting from


definitions, functions, structures, language
features, types, to examples of texts

Definition

Procedure text is a text that guides


us in making something, from stage
to stage or steps of an activity and
how to complete it
Function

The function of procedure text is to


guide us in making or compiling
something from the initial stage to the
final stage, or until the thing we are
doing is finished.
Structure
The structure of the procedure text is divided into
four, as follows :
1. Objective
Of course before making something, we
must know what we want to make, or the
purpose of what we want to do
2. Tools and materials

Once we know what we want to create,we


definitely know what tools and materials we need ,
then the second structure is to prepare tools and
materials.
3. Working step

Is the most important point of the


procedure text, after the tool is ready, we will
start doing something from the initial stage to
completion, so the third structure is the steps
4. Closing

the last structure is closure, or the result of


what we make, and is also the conclusion that
is explained from the activities that we make
or arrange
Linguistic characteristics
1. Using Imperative Verbs
The first linguistic rule in procedural paragraphs is to
use imperative verbs. What is an imperative verb?
This type of verb is a type of word verb that ends in -
an, and -i. For example the words: prepare, put in,
avoid, pay attention to.
2. Using technical words The next
Is to use technical words related to the topic raised
or discussed. For example, when explaining "The

author will use technical words such as nutrition,
content, protein, vegetables, osteoporosis, and others
3. Using Temporal Conjunctions
Procedure text will also or very often use
temporal conjunctions. Namely the type of
conjunction that functions to describe a
sequence or described chronologically. For
example using the words: after that, then,
next, then, and so on.

follow and practice.

Complex procedure text is a text that
contains many complicated and very
complex steps,

procedure text is a procedure that can be
carried out alternately not fixed in a fixed
order so that it can start from where first, the

Example of Procedure Text:
Special Fried Rice Recipe
Fried rice is one of the favorite menus in
Indonesia. If you want to try making your
own fried rice at home, then you can
prepare rice
The main ingredient:
400 grams of white rice

meat, finely shredded
50 grams of cabbage leaves, finely
sliced
2 tablespoons spring onions, finely
sliced.

4 tbsp sweet soy sauce

Manufacturing Step:

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, sauté the


spices until fragrant.
Add rice, chicken and cabbage.
