Picnic Time
On a weekend, the Manaloto family decided to go for a picnic. Along the way, they saw a lot of trees and cars. After
one hour, they arrived at Clark Picnic Grounds. Johannes and Jean were so happy.
Johannes: Come, Jean! Let’s ride on that bicycle.
Jean: What a nice bicycle! But, let’s help mom and dad first with our stuff.
Mr. Manaloto: Let’s put the picnic mat under this mango tree.
Mrs. Manaloto: All right. It is nice to stay here. Trees give us shade.
Johannes: Why are there many trees here, mom?
Mrs. Manaloto: People planted them years ago. Trees give us fruits, wood and medicine. They also help prevent floods.
Jean: That is why trees are really important.
The family went home happily.

Questions:
1. Who are the characters in the dialogue?
2. Where did they go for a picnic?
3. What are the things they saw?
RAPID ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING RESOURCES(DEPED LR PORTAL MATERIAL)

Is the LR Material... YES NO Cannot be determined

1. Connected and relevant to the MELCs? /

1. Appropriate to the grade level and learner /

characteristics in terms of language,
activities?

pleasing to the eyes?
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
1.Was the material able to meet all the requirements?
The material that I’ve chosen from DepEd Commons is the Quarter 1 Week
1 Lesson 1 I already assessed it and this material able to meet all the
requirements. The said materials are connected and relevant to MELCs.
2. Were there any questions in the assessment tool where you answered “No” or
“Cannot Be Determined”? What decision will you make on the LR material? Why?
None, because the material or module I assessed followed the standard and
competencies given by DepEd and able to met all requirements needed for a
Learning Resources that suit to the Learners.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
3.Are there other aspects of the material not covered by the tool but still need to be
assessed? Specify which aspect/s.
None, this material or module is complete
4.How does this exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your lesson
and your learners?
Downloading material help me to picked up the right and appropriate Learning
Resource Material for my lesson and to my learners by assessing it with Rapid
Assessment Tool if it contains the relevant skills and it’s aligned with the MELCs.
This help me to prevent downloading material without considering its aspects that
affect or help the development of learners knowledge and skills regarding the lesson.

RAPID ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING RESOURCES
(Non DepEd LR Portal Material)
RAPID ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING RESOURCES(NON-DEPED LR PORTAL MATERIAL)

Is the LR Material... YES NO Cannot be determined

1. Connected and relevant to the MELCs? /

1. Appropriate to the grade level and learner /

characteristics in terms of language,
activities?

1. easy to reproduce and/or disseminate? /

1. culture- and gender-fair? /

1. free from red flags on possible copyright /

and plagiarism issues?

1. the layout and format easy to read and /

pleasing to the eyes?
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1.Was the material able to meet all the requirements?
No, the material that I got from a non DepEd LR portal doesn’t met the
requirement of being pleasing to the eyes and the format is not easyu to read because
of it’s font size.
2.Were there any questions in the assessment tool where you answered “No” or “Cannot
Be Determined”? What decision will you make on the LR material? Why?
Yes, there is question in the assessment tool where I answered “No” and the
question is if its from a credible source/author because I get it from non DepEd LR
Portal which means everyone can upload a material. But as a Teacher you need to
assessed it first if its reliable and relevannt to the lesson and to the learners.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
3.Are there other aspects of the material not covered by the tool but still need to be
assessed? Specify which aspect/s.
None, because all aspects of the material is covered by the tool that I assessed.
4.How does this exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your lesson
and your learners?
It helps me a lot especially nowadays with the new normal wherein we need to
elaborate more of our lesson in terms of giving appropriate example and materials
needed but I should consider first those requirements or questions asked in the rapid
assessment tool if the material that I’ll pick or download is good for the lesson and to
the learners.
