ARTIFICIAL ACADEMIC
INTELLIGENCE PERFORMANCE
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
• What are the different types of AI technologies that are being used by students of
Siay National High School?
• How might AI technology impact student learning and academic performance?
• How might AI technology affect the workload of students of Grade 11 Academic
Track Students of Siay National High School?
• What are the potential risks and challenges associated with the use of AI in the
school system, particularly in terms of student behaviour and cheating??
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The study will be beneficial to the following:
• Students - Knowing the effects of artificial intelligence on academic performance
can help them better understand how technology affects their learning.
• Parents - Parents can gain better insight into their child's academic performance by
comprehending the impact of AI, they can also motivate their children to leverage
AI technology, thereby improving their academic performance
• Teachers - Understanding the AI influence can enable teachers to design their
classes to better incorporate technology into their teaching methods
• The study of Llego M. A. (2022) “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the Future
of Education” discusses the vast and untapped potential of AI to transform education through
personalized learning experiences, real-time decision making, and equity and excellence
support, as well as the increasing use of AI-powered educational tools and resources in the
coming years.
• The study of Xuesong Zhai (2021) “A Review of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education
from 2010 to 2020” highlights the potential for AI to be an effective learning tool for
personalized education experiences, with intelligent tutoring systems providing personalized
learning experiences through monitoring, delivery of tasks, feedback, and interfaces, as well as
opportunities for AI development through digital education reforms like gamification.
• The study of Moreno (2019) “The arrival of artificial intelligence in education” suggests
that AI has the potential to accelerate the realization of global education goals by reducing
barriers to learning access, automating management processes, and optimizing methods to
improve student performance and learning outcomes.
METHODOLOGY
RESEARCH DESIGN
• This study will use qualitative methods, specifically interviews, to explore student
experiences with artificial intelligence in their academic pursuits.
• The study will also utilize phenomenological research, which focuses on the
essence of human experiences and encourages researchers to suspend preconceived
notions to uncover new insights and understanding of the impact of AI on student
academic performance.
RESEARCH LOCALE
• This study will be conducted in the Philippines, specifically in Purok 2 Balucanan
Siay Zamboanga Sibugay located in Mindanao. This study will only be focusing
only on the Siay National-Senior high school.
RESEARCH RESPONDENTS
- The study focused on Grade 11 Academic Track students from Siay National - Senior
High School who are aged between 16-18 years old, with only 30 students being
interviewed for thorough analysis and interpretation of individual cases.
- Purposive sampling was used to select certain participants with specific
characteristics, expertise, or experiences, specifically students who are integrating
artificial intelligence with their studies.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
- The research instrument used was a 10-item open-ended questionnaire that gathered
qualitative data on students' perceptions and experiences using artificial intelligence in
their academic pursuits.
- The questionnaire was structured to cover different aspects related to the use of AI,
progressing from general inquiries to more specific aspects, allowing for in-depth and
detailed responses.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
• - Survey questionnaires were used as the data gathering method in this study.
• - The questionnaires were distributed with the permission of the OIC school
principal and teacher who was present during the interview.
• - Before the survey, clear instructions were given to the participants to encourage
detailed responses.
• - Due to time constraints, face-to-face interviews were not possible.
