using perfect tenses of the verbs.

Direction: Use the correct verb to complete the sentence.

REMEMBER
The phrases used above are examples of Perfect Tenses of Verbs. Perfect
Uses of Perfect Tenses.
• It describes a complete activity in the past. It used to emphasize that
an action was completed before another action took place.
Present Perfect Tense:
It describes the action that began in the past (despite being a
present tense)
Example: has or have + (past participle)
John has started his homework
They have fixed the broken window
Activity started in the past (and might continue to the present)

Example:
I have decided to finish my studies at Suliman university.
I have taken the wrong path.
(connotation: I am still on the wrong path)
Future Perfect Tense
used to describe an action that will have been completed at some point in the
future.
It is often used with a time expression (shown in bold) that identifies a point
in the future.
John will have bake a cake before you arrive.
They will have painted the fence before I have a chance to speak to them.
FUTURE PERFECT TENSE
By the time you arrive, we will have finished the meal and the
speeches.
(Note: “By the time you arrive” Identifies the point in the future.)
I will have read every magazine in the waiting room before I see
the dentist.
(Note: The clauses “before I see the dentist” Identifies the point
in the future.)
I hope that, when I leave this planet, I will have touched a few
people in a positive way.
(Note: The clause “when I leave this planet” identifies the point in
the future)
Key notes:
Past Perfect tense:
Had + past participle
I had jumped , I had met.
Present Perfect tense
Subject + has or have + past participle
I have worked, She has painted
Future Perfect tense
Subject + will have + past participle
I will have completed my assignment by 3 oclock
After this event, Simon will have walked over
10,000 miles in those boots.

Directions: complete each sentence by writing the form of the
verb indicated in the parentheses.
