#12 Articles of Confederation

The Articles of Confederation were written after the American Revolution. They were written in order to stabilize the government after the Revolutionary War because it was in a state disorder. However, they were not generally accepted by Federalist who argued that they did not specifically protect the rights of the people and had several Federalist voting against it based on that one fact. The American government made a compromise in order to appease the Federalist by adding on to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, which specifically would protect the rights of the American people. Federalist wanted a more centralized government and they believed that the Articles of Confederation gave as much power to the government as it should have.
