#5 Accomplishments of George Washington

George Washington was originally a Commander during the French and Indian war. He also served as a Commander during the American Revolution. He later became a General and led the battle against Cornwallis at the Battle of Yorktown which ultimately led to the end of the American Revolution. He was elected the first president of the United States due to his military experience. During the whiskey rebellion he sent a troop of militia men to disperse the rebellion thus showing the strength of the U.S. Government. He sought for neutrality in that he believed that America was not strong enough to enter into a war with other nations. He was also responsible for choosing the location of the nations capital, the District of Columbia. Ironically, he never served in Washington, D.C. as President.
