#4 French and Indian War

The French and Indian War was initially due to struggles over territories over land between Britain and France. During the war, the British sought help from the colonist to fight the war, whereas the French sought help from the Native Americans who agreed due to the fact that the French had only set up forts as opposed to Britain who had set up established colonies. Though due to the overwhelming force of the British and colonists the French were defeated and the Native Americans were pushed back further from their lands. As a result, to pay off Britains war debts, they placed taxes on the American colonies which eventually and inevitably led to revolts and the Revolutionary War.
