VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS WEST SACRAMENTO POST #8762

905 Drever Street, West Sacramento, CA 95691 (916) 371-7245

April/May 2014

Comrades:
I would like to thank the Ladies Auxiliary for putting on the Easter Egg Hunt this year. Also a big thank you to all that donated Easter Eggs and candy. The Post had a good turnout. The Easter Bunny was there to give all the kids their treats. This next meeting will be the installation of Post Officers and Ladies Auxiliary Officers. The Post Committee meeting will be at 5:00 PM and the Post meeting at 6:00 PM then the installation of officers at 7:00 PM. Please write this on your calendar as a reminder. The Homecoming for the District Commander and District Ladies Auxiliary President will be on May 18, 2014, Sunday. Appetizers will be at 5:00 PM and Dinner will start at 6:00 PM. At 7:00 PM we will be giving the outgoing District Commander gifts and also the District Ladies Auxiliary President her gifts. The meal is free for everyone that attends. This will be a Jean Jones buffet. We hope to have a great turn out. See you at the Post! May 17, 2014 is the Golf Tournament which is just around the corner. It is very important that we have a good participation for this event. The money that we make from this event will go directly to the general Post fund. Funds are getting low. All information is on our web page, Post 8762 vfw@gmail.com The Post got another six month extension from the Church for the land we use as parking. Carole is writing the grant with the help of a friend of hers in Washington. She has informed me that we will be going after private grants. There is no Federal grants that cover what the Post is trying to do. So this means we will be asking the Warren Buffetts and Apple corporations for the grants. I have all the faith that the Post will get a grant. We are veterans and we will not give up the cause! The Post is getting younger veterans joining the Post. When I stand at my Commanders station I see a lot of young faces. This is exactly what we need to insure that our Post will be here in the years to come. I always approach young vets and welcome them home and explain the VFWs mission. So when you see a vet, welcome them home and tell them about our Post and what we do for our vets. You will be very surprised on the response that you receive from these young veterans. It is very positive and they have many questions. We have the new application available at the canteen
