Indicator SOPs and Rubrics
New Indicators

Non-teaching staff availability

− Gather this information from the head teachers
− Ask HT about the availability of janitorial staff and whether they are:
o Hired on sanctioned posts
o Hired through NSB
− Input answers to the question accordingly in the MEA App

Security and safety arrangements

− Gather data through observations on:
o Does the school have barbed wire or glass pieces on the boundary wall?
o Does the school have a security guard?
o Does the school have a gate?
− Input answers to the question accordingly in the MEA App.

Availability of play area/playground

− Gather data through observation and interview on:
o Whether there is a designated play area/playground/space for physical activity in the
school?
o Are there swings/slides in the school?
− Input answers to the question accordingly in the MEA App

Existing Indicators (with modifications)

Sufficiency of furniture
− Gather data through observation on whether all students have sufficient furniture or not.
− Sufficiency of furniture is determined as follows:
o No more than 3 students per bench in schools that use benches.
 o Each student must have a separate chair and a desk in schools that use chairs and
desks.
o Plastic chairs/stools/floor mats do not count as furniture
− Input this data into the MEA App

Cleanliness of school facilities

− Gather data on cleanliness of the school facilities through observation.
− Use these rubrics to rate school facilities as Poor, Average or Good.
− Input this data into the MEA App
