Calibrating the Minimum Air Pressure Sensor, Rev. B

Overview
This Technical Note describes how to calibrate the minimum air pressure sensor (P/N 0960-
3015) on the main pneumatic panel of HDR presses. The purpose of the sensor is to trigger
a warning in the machine application if the main air pressure drops below 5.5 Bar.

Note:
This warning message
warns the operator
about low air pressure,
but does not stop the
machine from printing.

T
Applicability
The sensor has always been installed on the main pneumatic panel, but is only becoming
AF
functional as part of the software upgrade included in the HDR Stability Pack, scheduled for
release in early 2017. You must upgrade the machine to B&R software version 1.1.17 or later
before performing this procedure.

Time 30 minutes

• Allen wrenches
Tools
• Flathead screwdriver

Procedure
1. Using an Allen wrench, remove the cover for the main pneumatic panel.

3. Using a flathead screwdriver, turn the adjusting screw clockwise until the LED on the
sensor turns off.

4. Turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise until the LED turns back on. Count the
AF
number of turns as you do so.
5. Turn the adjusting screw back clockwise half as many turns as in the previous step.
This completes sensor calibration.
6. To test the calibration, use the regulator to increase and decrease the main air pressure.
If the sensor is calibrated correctly, the LED should turn off when the pressure drops to
around 4 Bar and should turn back on when the pressure rises above 6 Bar.

Tip:

The status of the sensor can also be viewed in Control Tools > Subsystems > Safety Status.
