Learning Targets: Analyze how God revealed Himself and narrated His salvific plan in the Bible.
Reference Title: Echoes of God’s Love 8
Author: Jane S. Galicia Page Numbers: 2-7
Values / Attitudes: Reverence for God’s Word
I- Essential Idea

Doctrine- God revealed Himself in stages. In the Old Testament he revealed Himself through
biblical signs made up of both deeds and words. He made a covenant with Noah, Abraham and
Moses. He performed great works for his chosen people and proclaimed their saving power through
the prophets’ words.
Moral- to hear the Word of God, we must read the Scripture with reverence. We must approach
it with an open and humble heart, and with full eagerness to obey the word when we hear it.
Worship- Prayer brings us into the presence of God. To listen to Him, we need to be alone with
Him. We need to free ourselves from any distractions, focusing only on Him and what He would say
to us.
Our successful way to use Scripture in prayer is to follow the ancient Christian tradition of
Reading, Thinking, praying. We first read a portion from Scripture, think about it, then respond to
God in prayer.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome brought spices so that

They were saying to one another, “ Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” When they
looked up, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe, and they were utterly amazed!

Jesus is Lord”, unless he is guided by the Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit gives them. There are different ways of serving, but the
same Lord is served. There are different abilities to perform service, but the same God gives ability to all for their
particular service.

enjoy His presence.

into the divine truths revealed by God.

The Lord’s Supper (Luke 22: 14-22)
When the hour came Jesus took his place at the table with the apostles. He said to them, “ I have wanted so
much to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer! For I tell you, I will never eat it until it is given its full meaning
in the Kingdom of God.” Then Jesus took a cup, gave thanks to God, and said “ Take this and share it among
yourselves. I tell you that from now on, I will not drink this wine until the Kingdom of God comes”
Then he took a piece of bread, gave thanks to God, broke it, and gave it to them saying, “ This is my body, which is
given for you. Do this in memory of me.” In the same way, he gave them the cup after the supper, saying, “ This cup is
God’s new covenant sealed with my blood, which is poured out for you. But, look! The one who betrays me is here at
the table with me! The Son of Man will die as God has decided, but how terrible for that man who betrays him!.”

Jesus the bread of Life ( John 6:25-35; 51-58)

When the people found Jesus on the other side of the lake, they said to Him, “ Teacher, when did you get
here?” Jesus answered, “ I am telling you the truth: you are looking for me because you ate the bread and had all you
wanted, not because you understood my miracles. Do not work for food that spoils; instead, work for the food that
lasts for eternal life. This is the food which the Son of Man will give you, because God, the Father, has put his mark of
approval on him.”
