Project Scope Statement

Project: Wilmont’s Pharmacy Drone Revision No.: 0

Summary: DroneTech was awarded by Wilmont’s Pharmacy a project to deliver prescription through
drone in the San Francisco area. Initially, only four stores will be using this technology. DroneTech is also
responsible to configurated the system to comply with Wilmont’s specification.

Purpose: The purpose of the project is to provide drone technology to Wilmont’s and delivery
prescription and drugstore items by these flying drones. The project successful will bring to DroneTech
and Wilmont’s a long-term relationship, which will bring stability to DroneTech.

Project Goals: The Project will provide drone technology to delivery prescription and drugstore item in
four stores initially. Also, as part of the project, DroneTech will provide the drone piloting and delivery
customized systems and business process to comply to Wilmont’s requirements.

Project Scope Description: The drone delivery project includes the following Scope elements:

Four flying Drones and system customization:

DroneTech shall provide four customized flying drones to be used in four pharmacy stores in San
Francisco area. As part of the scope the following shall be completed:

● Each drone should have adapted a temperature-controlled bagging system;


● Each drone should have Installed a bubble-type cushioning system;
● Each drone should have painted on the case, the Wilmont’s corporate colors and logo;
● DroneTech will provide pilots for the drones;
● DroneTech will customize the system to comply with Wilmont’s;
● The system shall interface to Wilmont’s enhanced online order entry process;
● The system shall allow customer to access by online entry or smartphone;
● The system shall interface communication about deliveries electronically (e-mail, online, mobile
alerts) as customer requests.

Project Management: The project has a maximum budget of US$ 1,750,000 and it is scheduled to begin
on January 5. The first customer delivery flight should take place no later than November 30 due to
harsh weather around San Francisco area. Plan tasks and assign will be planned and distributed among
the project team accordingly, including point of contact at Wilmont’s team. Regular meetings shall be
held with the team and stakeholders. Other ways of communication will be used depending on the
interests of the person. All decisions and final approval shall be approved by the Project Manager.
Key Results: At the conclusion of the project, the team shall have delivered four new flying drones for
the selected pharmacy stores, painted with the colors and logo of Wilmonts’, A customized delivery
system and business process to comply with Wilmont’s requirements; Four pilot for each Pharmacy
store to control the deliveries with the flying drones.

Deliverables:

● Four new flying drones


The drones will be painted with Wilmonts’ colors and logo, will have a temperature controlled bagging
system to keep the temperature of certain prescriptions and drugstore products.
A cushioning system will be installed on the drones in case of impact to avoid damage on the products.
DroneTech will provide the pilots for the drones.
● Customized delivery system and business process.
DroneTech system will interface with Wilmonts’ enhanced online order entry process, allowing
customers to register their willingness to have a drone deliver their order by means of online
entry or smartphone entry.
● Monthly reports.
The monthly reports will be present the project status. What was done on the previous month, what is
undergoing and what will be done in the next months ahead. Also, it will present a budget
expenditure along the project.
● Manual Delivery Information:
DroneTech will provide to the four pharmacy stores a Procedures Manual with all information needed on
the drone delivery technology, to make sure they are fully comfortable to load products into the
drone package carrier.
● Project book.
The project book will contain details of the project, requirements, modification executed on the delivery
system and business process, recommended maintenance time for the flying drones, tests
realized on the drones and systems and lesson learned.

Acceptance Criteria: To consider the Project a success, the following criteria must be completed:

Flying drones’ criteria:

● NEW four flying drones.


● Drones must be painted with the corporate colors and logo of Wilmonts’.
● Temperature-controlled bagging system must be installed.
● Cushion system must be installed.
● Release system (Clamps) needs to work reliably.

System’s criteria:

● Delivery system must be customized to comply with Wilmonts’ requirements.


● Business process must be customized to comply with Wilmonts’ requirements.
● System must interface to Wilmonts’ online order entry process.
● Customers must be able to use online or smartphone entry to order.
● Wilmonts’ management must be able to approve customer for the drone service due to
restrictions.
● Ensure that the relationship between DroneTech and Wilmont’s does not compromise the
security of Wilmont’s business information.

Drone delivery criteria:

● The first customer delivery must be no later than November 30.

Constrains:

● The project begins on January 5 and the first customer delivery flight should take place no
later than November 30 to avoid harsh weather in the San Francisco area.
● Customers in apartment building are not eligible to the drone service due to delivery issues.
● Budget cannot exceed US$ 1,750,000
● To ensure that Wilmont’s security will not be compromised and no breach for customer’s
privacy and Wilmont’s drone project information.

Assumptions:

● DroneTech will be responsible for the Drones’ maintenance and spare pieces.
● DroneTech will be responsible for system updates.
● DroneTech will be responsible for any damaged on the drone.

Key Milestones:

● Drone system configuration and testing: February – March.


● Drone bagging system installation and commissioning: January – April.
● Drone cushioning system installation and testing: January – April.
● Drone customizing (painting): April
● Interface DroneTech system with Wilmonts’: August
● Drone Trials: September
● First delivery: October
● Project close out: November

Scope Exclusions:

● Use of the flying drones on harsh weather.


● Use the flying drones for other purposes than prescription and drugstore products delivery.
● Drones’ performance due to final weight including delivery order.
● Extra batteries for the drones.
● Delivery close airport area.
