The purpose and scope of this method statement is to ensure that DI pipe repairs are carried
out in accordance with the correct methods and procedures. This method statement details
the procedures to be followed for :
a) Internal cement lining repair
b) Repair for coating

3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
PM/DPM shall ensure that all necessary tools & Instruments, safety protective equipments
are provided along with properly trained and qualified surveyors and made
available sufficiently in advance to the commencement of the work.

Safety Officer has to implement and enforce all safety precautions. He will also inspect the work
site regularly, and report deficiencies to the DPM / PM.

Site Engineer is responsible for the construction work and shall delegate a named Site
Supervisor who shall ensure that this procedure is fully implemented including
documentation till completion.

Surveyor is responsible to ensure that all surveying instrument being used are calibrated
and having valid calibration certificate and he shall ensure that all information,
data etc. required is to be taken and recorded on his Field Book.

4.1 Upon arrival of pipes to sites by supplier, initial inspection will be carried out jointly with
Contractor & Consultant’s site staff.
4.2 Upon inspection, the pipes for repair, if any, will be segregated.
4.3 Touch up or repair will be carried out according to approved supplier method statement
in accordance with their technical report as attached.
4.4 Submittal for approval will be issued for repair materials
4.5 Repair for Internal Cement Lining:
4.5. Cutting out the defective / damaged area & repaired by fresh approved material
1 with proper curing time at least 72 hours.
4.5. Cracks have to be repaired if they exceed the following:

- Length of crack is not more than 600mm
- Width of crack is not more that 0.8mm
- Circumferential cracks are not more than 50% of circumference
4.6 Repair for coating
Any scratches / damages for coating system have to be repaired as per following limits
for D.I. Pipes & Fittings.
4.6. External Surface: Black Bituminous paint with a minimum DFT of 100 microns.

4.6. External Surface: Spigot End for Length 250mm: Non-toxicity Bituminous Paint
2 with minimum DFT 100 microns.
4.6. Internal Surface Socket End: Non-toxicity Bituminous Paint with minimum DFT
3 120 microns.
4.7 We have skilled personnel to carry out touching and repairing.
4.8 In-house quality control and demonstration will be carried out after arrival of pipes.
