Alamin
Lets start!
There are some great designers out there, 2D drawings and 3D subject
matter. Is that a trend, to do 3D concepts because art directors can have
problems reading 2D drawings?" He moves on to explain why he thinks 3D
concepts are really important.
2D drawings are generally great for idea generating and moodiness. Its
strength is in speed, presentation, and intuitive design.

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON AVAILABLE LOCAL MATERIALS AND APPROPRIATE
CONTEMPORARY ARTS IN YOUR REGION?

What’s New
5
What is It
Lets talk about Paper, one of the most familiar, inexpensive, and abundant
materials around, is great for arts and crafts.
With the right techniques, however, you can also use it for anything from
prototyping small models to constructing furniture or even boats and
buildings. Here’s how to push the limits of its potential.
Types of Paper
A combination of thickness, stiffness, “tooth” or surface texture, and finish
(matte, glossy, or none) can change the way paper holds its shape and how
it takes pencil, ink, or glue. Some popular types of paper and their uses
include:
Copy paper: Medium weight and fairly smooth, it’s good for writing by hand
as well as for printing. It’s also stiff enough to stand up if used for small
paper models.
Art paper: Pricey, thick, and usually somewhat rough, it’s designed for
pencil, ink, and paint. Tear it against the grain for nice frayed edges.
Cardstock: Stiff, smooth, and thin, it straddles the line between paper and
cardboard. Good for greeting cards, paper models, and other stand-up
building projects.
Construction paper: Soft, rough, and often brightly colored, it’s not as stiff
as cardstock but still good for kids’ pop-up cards and other 3D crafts. The
best paper for little hands to practice scissor skills.
Tissue paper: Thin and brightly colored, use it to create a faux stained glass
effect or dampen it and let the colors run for a watercolor effect.
Origami paper: Lightweight but stiff, it will hold a sharp crease and even
spring back if you compress it when folded. Generally colored or printed on
one side only.
More choices include ultra absorbent coffee filters (for pseudo tie-dye
projects), wax paper (iron two sheets together to “laminate” leaves and other
flat objects) and freezer paper (good for stencils, will stick lightly to fabric
when ironed).
6
Folding and Rolling
For nice sharp creases — V-shaped valley folds or hump-backed mountain
folds — score your sheet first along the fold line by indenting it with any
kind of dull point. For coils and rounded bends, roll it around a toothpick or
pencil.
Cutting Paper
Scissors should have sharp, small, pointy blades. For long straight cuts, use
a craft knife or box cutter. Run it lightly along a metal straight edge, making
multiple swipes if needed. A desktop programmable vinyl cutter is easy to
use for delicate, precise projects, and much less pricey than a laser cutter.
Connecting
Ordinary white glue is long lasting and secure enough for most needs.
Spread it thinly with a flat toothpick, craft stick, or index card, or use a
paintbrush or roller. Glue sticks and spray adhesives work instantly but are
less permanent. Use binder clips to clamp pieces while you build.
Strengthening
To make models sturdier, glue multiple layers together, alternating grain if
possible. You can build with thin paper and card by bending or rolling it
tightly into rods. To make models last longer, reinforce them with clear
packing tape or by brushing on clear sealant, epoxy resin, thinned glue, or
shellac.
Paper- is an organis meduim made from cellulose pulp derived mainly from
wood, certain grasses and linen rags.It is processed into flexible sheets or
rolls.
There are different kinds of paper made for different kinds of paper made for
different meduim- drawings or paintings.
Laid Paper-pattern of parallel lines created by the wires of the mold used for
production. Called also a texture suitable for sketching with pastel, charcoal
and soft pencil.
Textured pastel, charcoal and craft paper-this type fine irregular texture
pressed into the surface during the procee of manufacturer
7
This paper Pastel is good for pastel and charcoal can be used for layering
but not for heavy layering.
Wove paper- made on a woven wire cloth like a fine sieve. The surface
created is fine and smoothwith no evidence of texture. Best for ink drawing
and realist pencil drawing
Rough grained paper- bumpy surface a favorite of water color artist. Tiny
pits in the paper aloows paint to pool in heavey wash, mit leaves tiny dots of
white that contributes to that characteristiceffect of the whole work.

Suring Basa!
In the eyes of the artist materials to best convey the message that they want to
impart to their audience, they open themselves to a wide array of media about

Support and other materials
Canvas-this is made of a closely woven, heavy cloth of cotton hem por linen
onto which painting is done usually in oils.
Wood- known as hardboard which is a board or panel that is made from wood
the advantages of wood is it offers a more rigid surfasse that results in les
cracking in the paint.
Plywood- from wood veneers which are thin layers or slices of wood glued
together.
Laminated Board- has mica filmo n iys surfasse to give it resistance and
strength.
Wall- however the walls for painting murals projects, the wall should be
carefully inspected for cracks, molds, dirt, wax,oil or grease. If any of these are
found,
Clean the wall throughly with mild soap solution such as TSP cleaner.
Charcoal- organic drawing material from burnt wood. Charcoal can come in two
forms: Vine charcoal and compressed charcoal.
Vine Charcoal-comes in thin sticks and is easy to blend ande rase. Avariety of
effects can be created with vine charcoal.
Compreesed Charcoal- made upo f lose charcoal pressed into a stick. It creates a
much darker black than vine charcoal and can be used on its own or blended with
vine charcoal.
Graphite- pencils this meduim is easy to use and not as messy as charcoal.
a. Bristle Brush- This is used for thicky prepared paints and care capable of
spreading paints in impasto consistencies. Its characteristic stiffness, on the
other hand, can be damage transparent watercolor because the scubbing
action tend to loosen the pigment.
9
b. Sable Brush-this brush is known for its resiliency and cause less damage than
a bristle brush. Sable brushes can also hold a good amount of pigment and
water.
a. Dome Shape Brush –this also known as the wash brush/ sky brush.
b. Pointed Brushes- There are particularly used for making linear making.
c. Flat Brush- is usually ideal for making broad strokes.
Brush Size-
The sizes of the brushes are coded in numirec designation from 000 to 8 in
the french scale and from 0 to 12 in the Standard English Scale.
Oriental Brushes- these brushes differ from the brushes used in the West
both in the materials used and in appearance.
