I. INTRODUCTION:

Objectives:

 Accomplish the pre-assessment to measure prior knowledge about the topics in the given module.
 State the essential questions.

TASK 1: PRE-ASSESSMENT (Activity Sheet)


Learners will accomplish the pre-assessment activity on the module. This will give them an insight of what to
learn on this module.

TASK 2: The learners will read the introduction on Horticulture 7 and answer the following questions:
1. What are the vegetable crops that currently planted at your garden or backyard?
2. What are the vegetable crops do you want to plant in near future?
3. Are you applying organic fertilizer to your crops?
4. In your own opinion, what do you think are the reasons why we plant?
5. Do you think planting vegetables is important?
6. Do you think farm tools are important in farm or garden operations? Why?

The learners will try to answer those questions to trigger their interest in Horticulture.

TASK 4: USE OF FARM TOOLS (Digitized Module & Video Tutorials)


Objectives: 1. Explain and identify hand tools.
2. Distinguish digging, cutting, hauling, watering and misting tools.
3. Select the appropriate tools to use based on the job requirements.

The learners will read the information sheet in Farm Tools and then watch video tutorials on the proper use
of tools.

TASK 5: SHORT QUIZ


The learners will answer the 1 – 10 multiple choice test in the digitized module.

TASK 6: DRAW ME
1. Identify the shape and appearance of each tool.
Using a pencil, the learners will draw some tools in Horticulture.

TASK 7: USE OF FARM TOOLS (PERFORMANCE TASK) (LEARNERS DEMONSTRATION)


Objectives: 1. Demonstrate the proper use of tools.
2. Identify the use of tools in each task.

After watching the video tutorials about the proper use of tools, the learners will demonstrate it by
using those tools. They will take pictures of themselves as performing an activity and send it to the teacher in any
form of platforms. There will be guideline on the module which they will follow for this activity.

TOPIC 2: COMMON FARM IMPLEMENTS AND EQUIPMENT

MOTIVATION: The learners will see all the pictures of common farm implements and equipment used in
Horticulture on the module.

TASK 8: USE OF COMMON FARM IMPLEMENTS AND EQUIPMENT (Module & Video Clips)
OBJECTIVES: 1. Explain the purpose of common farm implements in the preparation of land.
2. Differentiate the farm implement pulled by working animals to farm implements mounted to
machineries.
3. Explain the purpose of common farm equipment in the preparation of land, transporting
farm inputs and products.

The learners will read the information sheet in Farm Implements and Equipment and then watch videos on
how to use them.
TASK 9: Formative Assessment

The learners will answer the 1 – 10 multiple choice test and essay on the module.

TASK 10: PERFORM PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE


1. Explain the proper maintenance of tools, implements and equipment.
2. Identify the tools to be sharpen and tools need to be applied with lubricants.

The learners will read the information sheet for the preventive maintenance of tools, implements and
equipment and then answer the self-check on the module.

TASK 11: Long Test


The learners will answer the 1 – 50 items test about farm tools, implements and simple equipment.
