LEARNING OBJECTIVES

M At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to express their ideas on the four seasons in groups.

I. PRE-LESSON

Show a picture of snowman. Pupils name a season related to it. e.g. winter
Repeat steps with pictures of a trees, flowers and a beach.

1. Activity 1:
 Play the song from Student’s Book, p.35 and have pupils sing along. (CD track 52)
 Explain to pupils that in many countries in the world, the seasons have weather as
described in the song. (refer to SOW pg 50 step 3 for further explanation)
 Ask pupils to look at the song words and think about how it might be different for
Malaysia.
2. Activity 2:
 Put pupils in groups of four. Give each group four pieces of paper.
 Ask pupils to write the name of a season on each one.
II. LESSON
 Pupils then brainstorm vocabulary and ideas for each of the different seasons.
DEVELOPMENT
 They write one word/phrase/idea on the paper and then pass it to their neighbour, who
writes another idea, and so on.
 Have groups tell you their ideas and build a mind map on the board.
3. Activity 3:
 Ask pupils what their favourite season is again, and why they like it.
 Direct pupils’ attention to the picture and elicit what they can see. (Activity 2 pg 35)
 Play the CD and have pupils to repeat the exchange. (CD track 53)
 Pupils play the game in pairs.
 Have some pairs play the game in front of the class.

III. POST LESSON 1. Guide pupils to complete their learning diaries.
