Information Required & Proposed Solution:

Per Project Requirements - Part 3 Section 13.3.4:

“The Design-Builder shall furnish and install underdeck lighting at the 138th Street, 140th Street, and 141st Street
intersections to provide average lighting level below deck of 5 foot-candles (FC) encompassing the entire limits of
each..…….”

A meeting between NYCDOT Division of Street Lighting (DSL), and HNTB/Tully Posillico was held on April 26,
2018. During that meeting Mr. Akmal Mikhail from NYCDOT DSL directed that the underdeck/intersection
lighting at the three above mentioned intersections shall be designed to 3 FC average as opposed to the RFP
requirements of 5FC.

Please advise if 3 FC illumination level for the underdeck/At-grade lighting at 138th, 140th and 141st Intersections is
acceptable.

Section 13.3.4 shall be revised to 3 Foot Candles per NYCDOT Street Lighting
Standards.
