    SUBJECT: IMMEDIATE CONSTRUCTION OF A WIDER SEPTIC TANK

    Sir:

    For the past days, we have been suffering from overflowing wastewater coupled with
    intolerable stench emanating from the comfort room (CR) on the ground floor at the rear
    left portion of the Legislative Building.

    Initial report of the Department of Public Services (DPS) showed that the CR’s septic
    tank has already been filled up because its underground chamber is too small to
    accommodate daily volume of wastewater.

    It is also believed that water coming from the kitchen sink is passing through one
    pipeline that ends up in the same septic tank, causing the dirty water to overflow and
    inundate the ground floor of the SP building.

    What makes the matter worse, apart from having a small size septic tank, is the
    intrusion of salt water into the tank’s underground chamber which occurs particularly
    during high tide and heavy rains.

    We believe that emptying the septic tank is just a temporary solution to this recurring
    problem, hence as per advice of the DPS inspecting team and Ms. Jehan Repollo of
    CENRO, we highly recommend for the immediate construction of a wider underground
    chamber of this overfilled septic tank.

    We hope that this matter be given a priority before the new set of the distinguished
    members of the City Council, to be led by Vice Mayor-Elect, now incumbent City Mayor
    Kristine Vanessa T. Chiong assume office at 12 noon of June 30, 2019.
