about divisibility.  in school on Friday at

number.
Let’s see what this means!
Here are 4 circles. We can divide 4 by 2.
This means we can make 2 equal groups. Take a look:

Email Address: m.pcuadernoelementaryschool@yahoo.com
Telephone No.: (047) 237-2185
This means 4 is divisible by 2.
What happens if we try to divide 5 by 2?

We can’t make 2 equal groups!

This means 5 is not divisible by 2.
Let's learn some special rules that to help us know when numbers
are divisible by 2, 5, or 10.

Divisible by 2
Any number that ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 is divisible by 2.
Let’s try this out!
Is 10 divisible by 2?
 It ends in 0! Yes, it is divisible by 2. ✅
Is 348 divisible by 2?
 It ends in 8! Yes, it is divisible by 2. ✅
Is 9,347 divisible by 2?
 No, it ends in 7. It is not divisible by 2. ❎
😺 Tip: if the last digit is divisible by 2, the whole number is
divisible by 2!

Divisible by 5
Any number that ends in 0 or 5 is divisible by 5.
All of these numbers are divisible by 5:
15
345
2,980
2,457,305
It doesn’t matter how big the number is! If it ends in 0 or 5, it is
divisible by 5.

Let’s try a few!

Is 90 divisible by 5?
 Yes, it ends in 0! 90 is divisible by 5.
Is 492 divisible by 5?
 No, it doesn’t end in 5 or 0. It is not divisible by 5.
Is 4,520,488 divisible by 5?
 No! It doesn’t end in 5 or 0. It is not divisible by 5.

Divisible by 10
Any number that ends in 0 is divisible by 10.
All of these numbers are divisible by 10:
80
670
45,190
5,621,090
Do you think you can recognize numbers divisible by 10? 🤔
Is 840 divisible by 10?
 Yes! It ends in 0. 840 is divisible by 10.
Is 9,050,344 divisible by 10?
 No, it doesn’t end in 0. 9,050,344 is not divisible by 10.

Determine Divisibility
Some numbers will be divisible by more than one number.
Did you notice that if a number ends in 0 it is divisible by 2, 5
and 10? 🤔All of these numbers are divisible by 2, 5, and 10:
340
5,900
45,210

4. Things to remember: Copy this on your Math notebook

Divisibility rules tell whether a number is exactly divisible by
other numbers. The number is divisible by 2 if the number ends
with 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8. It is divisible by 5 if the number ends with 0
and 5. It is divisible by 10 if the number ends with 0 and 10.

5. Answer the activities on your paper (See the Activity Sheet

in Mathematics 5, pages 1-2)

 Activity 1: Write Yes or No.

 Activity 2: Write on the blank before each item 2, 5 or 10
to indicate whether the given number is exactly divisible
by any of them. There may be more than one answer.
 Activity 3: Put a check under each corresponding column
to identify whether each given is exactly divisible by 2, 5
and 10.
 Activity 4: Do what is asked.
 Activity 5: Put a check on the blank if the first number is
exactly divisible by the second.
 Activity 6: Encircle the numbers which are exactly
divisible by the given number before each item.

Divisibility Rules for 3, 6, and 9
Do you remember what divisible means?
Divisible means that a number can be split equally by another
number.
In the last lesson, you learned that a number that ends in 0
is divisible by 2, 5, and 10 . Let’s look at some more rules for
divisibility!

Divisible by 3
There’s a trick to figuring out if a number is divisible by 3!
A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by
3.
What does this mean?

Let’s try it out!

342
This number has three digits! What are they?
3, 4, and 2
We need to find the sum of these three digits. How do we find
the sum?
We add!
3+4+2=9
Is 9 divisible by 3?
Yes! This means 342 is also divisible by 3! ✅
👉Tip: The only single-digit numbers divisible by 3 are: 3, 6, and
9.

Let’s try this again!

8,217
Let’s find the sum of the digits!
8 + 2 + 1 + 7 = 18
Great! Now, here’s another tip. If you add and find a two-digit
number, add the digits again!
Find the sum of the digits in 18.

1+8=9
Is 9 divisible by 3? 🤔
Yes! That means 8,217 is divisible by 3.

One more!
6,701
Let’s add the digits!
6 + 7 + 0 + 1 = 14
Now, let’s the digits of 14!
1+4=5

Is 5 divisible by 3? 🤔
No, it’s not! That means 6,701 is not divisible by 3.

Divisible by 6
You already know half of the divisibility rule for 6!
If a number is divisible by 6, it does two things:
It is divisible by 3.
AND
It is divisible by 2.
We just learned to add the digits of a number together to find out
if it is divisible by 3.
Do you remember how to find out if a number is divisible by 2?
That’s right! It ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8.
Are you ready to check whether a number is divisible by 6?
1,836
Is this number divisible by 3?
Let’s find the sum of the digits!
1 + 8 + 3 + 6 = 18

Try it once more!

1+8=9
Yes, 1,836 is divisible by 3.
We’re not done yet! Is it also divisible by 2?
Yes, it ends in 6!
That means it is also divisible by 6!
1,836 is divisible by 6. ✅
Let’s try one more!
42,129
Let’s start by checking if it is divisible by 3:
4 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 9 = 18
Once more!
1+8=9
Yes, 42,129 is divisible by 3.
Is it also divisible by 2?
No, it does not end in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8.
This means 42,129 is not divisible by 6.

Divisible by 9
Figuring out whether a number is divisible by 9 means finding
the sum of the digits again!
A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of its digits is also divisible
by 9.
👉Tip: If you keep adding until you find the single-digit sum, it
will always equal 9.
Let’s try it!
567
Let’s find the sum of the digits!
5 + 6 + 7 = 18
Do you remember whether 18 is divisible by 9? 🤔
It’s ok if you don’t! We can find the sum of the digits of 18.
1+8=9
Since it equals 9, we know 567 is divisible by 9.
Let’s try another one!
48,933
Let’s find the sum of the digits:
4 + 8 + 9 + 3 + 3 = 27
Is 27 divisible by 9?
It is! But if you didn’t know that you could find the sum of the
digits:
2+7=9
It equals 9! That means 48,933 is divisible by 9.

A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of all the digits of the
number is divisible by 3.

If a number is divisible by 6, It is divisible by 3 and 2.

A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of all the digits of the

number is divisible by 9 or a multiple of 9.

5. Answer the activities on your paper (See the Activity Sheet

in Mathematics 5, pages 3-4)

 Activity 1: Circle the number inside the apple that are

divisible by 3m 6 or 9.
 Activity 2: Use the divisibility rules to check for the

underline your answer.
 Activity 3: Fill in the missing digit
 Activity 4: Write Yes or No if the number is divisible by
the given number.
 Activity 5: Complete each statement by filling out the
correct number in each blank. Use 3, 6 and 9 as your
