    Design of stirrups

    Characterisics Strength Of stirrups (σy) = 500 KN


    Breath of the beam (d) = 355 mm
    Design Shear (Vus) = 178 KN

    Adopt, 8mm- 2legged vertical stirrups:


    Asv = 100.48 mm2

    Spacing of shear reinforcement (x) = (0.87*σy*Asv*d)/Vus


    = 87.17204 mm
    not allowed

    Again, asuuming spacing (x) = 127 mm


    Asv = 146.3882 mm2
    Diameter of stirrups= 10 mm
    Provided area = 157 mm2

    Therefore, provide stirrups of 12mm dia bars At 127mm c/c spacing.
