INTRODUCTION
Most Filipinos have taken a natural liking for sweets. Want to know why? It is
because the taste of sweetness is the ultimate comfort food for a lot of Filipinos. And to
say that we Filipinos have a sweet tooth is an understatement for the reason that every
region in the Philippines has its own sweet dessert recipe to brag about.
One of these desserts that Filipinos always love to eat is the Philippine version of
European crème caramel, leche flan. Made with egg yolks, evaporated milk and
sweetened condensed milk, Filipino leche flan is a rich steamed custard with a syrupy
caramel. Leche flan was brought to the Philippines at the time when the Spaniards
colonized the country in 16th century. It is considered by many as one of the “sweetest”
contribution of Spain to Philippine cuisine. As compared to European crème caramel
and Spanish original flan, Filipino leche flan is much heavier version because of the
presence of more egg yolks and condensed milk.
Moreover, leche flan is one of the most popular and most requested desserts
during celebrations such as parties, town fiestas, festive celebrations, and on special
holidays like Christmas and New Year’s Eve. It is a total favorite!

Flan It! is a leche flan business owned by Mr. James Aaron A. Jimenez, who are
currently Senior High School students of Punturin Senior High School.

Description of the Business


Flan It! is a new store that operates in Gitna St. Bignay Valenzuela near 7/11
convenience store. The type of product that the owner wanted to sell is a dessert called
leche flan.
Flan It! owner noticed and recognized that most Filipinos especially students like
them have cravings for sweet foods. So, the owners decided to have leche flan as their
business, considering that it is the all-time favorite dessert of most Filipinos.
Because of the dessert’s indescribable popularity, leche flan business is a
common business not just in the locality, but also to most parts of the country. So the
owners of Flan It! came up with a plan of giving the product a twist. The owners give the
newest innovation of leche flan, the flavored leche flans. With the help of fast evolution
of technology, the owner also want to promote their products online through social
media by responsibly using it for ordering processes.
The main purpose of Flan It! is to provide and satisfy its customers through its
finest and quality products and services. Therefore, our day-to-day activities can involve
new product development and others.

Location of the Business


The leche flan store is located at Gitna St. Bignay Valenzuela near 7/11
convenience store. The owners of Flan It! believe that the place is the most ideal place or
location to put up a starting business especially for starters, considering the fact that
this business’ target customers are students just like the owner and also, the location is
surrounded by different establishment and a large population. Flan It! aims to believe
that Bignay Valenzuela is open to this kind of business.

Funding Requirement and Sources


The business will be starting largely by the owners’ funds. Flan It! plans to start
with an inventory of 1o leche flans per week with different variations. The prices of these
leche flans will range to 20-25 pesos. All of these will surely bounce back with stronger
profits if the products will be highly accepted by the store’s target customers. The
working capital will enable Flan It! to meet a current expenses and ensure the growth of
the business.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Flan It! is a locally owned leche flan shop that will be positioned in front of the
owner’s house. Flan It! will provide a combination of excellent dessert impression for
those Filipinos who have taken a natural liking to sweets. Flan It! is the answer to an
increasing demand for sweet foods, to satisfy the cravings of the Filipinos with sweet
tooth.

best leche flans around which people gather to celebrate all their lifetime events or just
in the mood to have a sweet treat. We make this possible by manufacturing quality
products that will fulfil not only the people’s cravings for sweets but also the customers’

To provide the customers with a modern twist to satisfy the taste buds of the
previous, current and the future generations with a dash of excellence, a pinch of quality
and a scoop of creativity and innovation by a team of passionate individuals. It also aims
to offer leche flan with quality and affordable price and to increase customer satisfaction
by corresponding to all the wants of consumers and transform their wants into their
“needs”.

Goals
The main goal of this leche flan store is to be one of the most successful leche flan
stores in the locality and eventually in the whole country. Aside from doing this for the
subject Work Immersion, Flan It! will strive to be the best leche flan store in the
Philippines. The owner want his customers to have the total essence and sensation of
the innovation of his leche flans. Flan It! seeks to be the most successful leche flan store
in the country.

Objectives
 To make leche flan in a more exciting and creative way;
 To introduce a product that is common but also new to the eyes of the customers;
 To introduce a product to the market through advertising and promoting it with
the use of social media;
 To establish a high introductory sale by lowering the regular price by 5-10 pesos
to attract more customers in the first day;
 To seek strategies to improve and develop the internal processes;
 To build strong customer relationship through satisfying them with our service
and product offerings.

Customers
The business encompasses a variety of people including the young, middle aged,
and old. It targets all people sharing similar behavioral patterns and reasons for
supporting Flan It! But the main target customers of this business are the students near
where the store is located, students who want to have a sweet treat at a reasonable price.

Production Schedule
This business accepts orders and for the starting production, there is only a
weekly production of the said product. The products will be made on the weekends
dependent on the amount of orders of the customers. When daily production is already
possible, the business will be expected to operate from 8:00AM to 3:00PM on Mondays
to Fridays considering the amount of leche flans that have been made. Flan It! will make
the leche flans with oddly delicious and nutritious flavors.

Production Process
The ingredients are the following:
 10 pieces raw eggs
 1 small can condensed milk
 1 cup fresh milk (or evaporated milk)
 1 cup granulated sugar
 1 tsp vanilla extract
 1 cup mashed squash/sweet potato/banana (flavors may vary)

For the making of the Leche Flan:


1. Using all the eggs, separate the yolk from the egg white (only egg yolks will be used).
2. Place the egg yolks in a big bowl then beat them using a fork or an egg beater
3. Add the condensed milk and mix thoroughly
4. Pour-in the fresh milk, Vanilla and the mashed squash. Mix well
5. Put the mold (llanera) on top of the stove and heat using low fire
6. Put-in the granulated sugar on the mold and mix thoroughly until the solid sugar
turns into liquid (caramel) having a light brown color.
Note: Sometimes, it is hard to find a Llanera (circle flan mold) depending on your
location. The owners find it more convenient to use individual Round Pans in making
leche flan.
7. Spread the caramel (liquid sugar) evenly on the flat side of the mold
8. Wait for 5 minutes then pour the egg yolk and milk mixture on the mold
9. Cover the top of the mold using an Aluminum foil
10. Steam the mold with egg and milk mixture for 30 to 35 minutes.
11. After steaming, let the temperature cool down then refrigerate
12. Serve for dessert. Share and Enjoy!
