DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH

I.              Objective
         Define noun and pronoun based on the poem heard
         Distinguish  noun from pronoun based on the poem read
         Write 2 or more sentences about noun and pronoun

II.            Subject  Matter


The Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly
Topic: Noun
Materials: Worksheets, Visual Aids (pictures, Illustrations)
Reference: English You and Me pp. 171-175

III.           Procedure:
A. Preparatory Activities
                     Tell the Students to list down at least 5 names of their favorite cartoon
characters and 5 names of their Favorite Artist in movies/television
                     Show pictures that signifies noun and pronoun

B. Developmental Activities
1.    Motivation: Brainstroming
Ask:   -Do you have a favorite cartoon characters? Who are they?
         -Do you have a Favorite Movie/Television Artist? Who are they?
         -Do the pick and Guest Games
2.    Unlocking Vocabulary

1.    Presentation: story telling


A.      Ask the students if they have already seen an old woman who swallowed a fly.
B.  Present this poem to the class. Tell them that this poem will tell them what happened
to the old woman who swallowed the fly. Tell the pupils to listen as you read the
poem.
The Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly
There was an old woman who swallowed a fly.
Oh! My! Swallowed a fly?
Poor old woman, I think she’ll die
There was an old woman who swallowed a spider.
Right down inside her, she swallowed a spider.

 She swallowed a spider to catch the fly


Oh, my! Swallowed a fly!
Poor old woman, I think she’ll die
There was an old woman who swallowed a bird!
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly


Oh, my! Swallowed a fly!
Poor old woman, I think she’ll die.
There was an old woman who swallowed a cat.

Fancy that! Swallowed a cat!


She swallowed the cat to catch the bird.

B.Tell the students that your topic for today is about Noun and Pronoun.
C.    Discuss to the students what is noun and pronoun.
D.         Let the students distinguish noun and pronoun by presenting another poem and
have them answer some questions and present a chart which separates the two
ideas.
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe
She had ten children and she didn’t know what to do
All day long her children stayed outside to play.
At night time they all packed together and called it a day
