 Fabric is a plain sheet of cloth, which is made
from natural or man-made fibers by weaving or
knitting process. Most fabrics are knitted or
woven, but some are produced by non-woven
processes such as braiding, felting, twisting,
etc.

Course Objectives
 Winding: Practical study of Cone, cheese, Flanged bobbin, Cop and prim
winding machines.

Winding
 Winding is the process of transferring yarns from ring, bobbin, hank
etc. into a suitable package is called winding. It may be electrical or
mechanical.
Objects of Winding
 To transfer yarn from one package to another suitable packages.
 To remove yarn faults(hairiness, neps, slubs of foreign matters).
 To clean yarn surfaces.
 To improve the quality of yarn.
 To get a suitable package for knitting/weaving.
 To store the yarn for next purposes.
Types of Packages
 Parallel wound package: (a)
Warp beam, (b) Weavers beam.
 Near parallel wound package:
(a) Pirn, (b) Cop, (c)
Flanged bobbin.
 Cross wound packages: (a)
