SYSTEM
I. INTRODUCTION
Domestic system is a system which is used to fulifill the fresh water and
the seawater needed for the crews and the accomodation during the voyage of the
ship. Domestic system is divided into two main branches which are domestic
supply system and the domestic discharge system.
a. Sanitary Supply System
Sanitary supply system is used to fulfill the water required for the crew
and the accommodation deck needs. This supply system uses 2 kinds of water
which are fresh water and the sea water. Each water is supplied on board for
different functions.
Fresh Water
Fresh water is used to supply all the needs of the fresh water on the ship
during voyages. Fresh water supply is commonly generated to fulifill for drinking
water, cooking, sanitary supply, service (laundry), Cooling system (LT and HT
cooler system in this MT. Roschery).
Sea Water
Sea water is used to fulfill all the needs of sea water on the ship during
sailing. Generally, it is used to sanitary supply, sewage (flushing), service, cooling
the Central and Jacket cooler, for Ballast System and Fire Main System. But,
actually for Ballast and Fire Main System have been already calculated separately
because both of those systems comes from the sea chest and will be directed by
using its piping system through the ballast tank or hydrants.
b. Sanitary Discharge System
Sanitary discharge system is all discharge from the sanitary system on the
ship. Sewage means drainage of other water from any form of toilets, urinals, and
WC scuppers, from medical premises, from spaces containing living animal, etc.
Discharges of sewage into water bodies can come from many sources, including
wastewater treatment, facilities, etc. Sanitary discharge is divided into two sewage
system as shown in the diagram below :
There are two types of sanitary discharge water, as follows :
Grey Water
Black Water
These discharge water have the potential to impair water quality,
adversely affect aquatic environments and also increase the risks to human health.

SYSTEM
While sewage discharge have potentially wide-ranging impacts on all aquatic
environments. So that is why, all of about the sewage has been regulated based on
Marine Pollution (MARPOL) Annex IV : Pollution by Discharge of Sewage.

V. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
This system will be divided into two main branches which are sanitary supply
system and sanitary discharge system. both of these systems have different function and
also will be separated by distinguish pipelines, because they are not allowance to use the
same pipeline and to prevent the contaminants to mix the feed water then can potentially
damage the crews and passangers.
A. Sanitary Supply System
Sanitary supply system is used to fulfill the water required for the crew and the
accommodation deck needs. This supply system uses 2 kinds of water which are fresh
water and the sea water.
Fresh Water : feed water (drinking and cooking), deck cleaning, cooler, service
Sea Water : sanitary (flushing), cooling the LT and HT cooler, etc.
